UAB is an interesting case. What happened to UAB football is a shame. In 2006 they had a deal to hire Jimbo Fisher as their head coach. The deal was killed by Paul 'Little Bear' Bryant and the rest of the BOT at the University of Alabama, reportedly because Alabama was also interested in Fisher at the time. After struggling a few years, the UAB president announced in December 2014, to great outrage, that football operations would end as a cost saving measure. The next June it was announced football would be reinstated.

Since then UAB has opened a new $22.5 million Football Operations Center with a covered practice field.

Football was reinstated this year and the team is bowl eligible. They are averaging 28,749 per home game. A new UAB Athletics Campaign Committee by spring 2017 had raised $43 million. The Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex and the City of Birmingham are discussing building a new stadium in the "uptown" area. It would be the Blazers' new home.

UAB men's basketball has 15 NCAA appearances. They have 33 winning seasons (33-5) since starting basketball in 1979. In 2016 they went 26-5 in the regular season and made the NIT.

I would say add no teams at this time, but UAB is interesting.

Here's how I see it... If Houston, Cincinnati, Navy, UCF, UConn, Temple, USF left than the leftovers can after cusa members.

I didn't add Memphis in the list above ^^^ b/c majority of them desperately want souther miss.

I wouldn’t add anyone from CUSA. However Southern Miss is an easy add if you need to add someone. I would just have one condition and that is to expand their football stadium to over 40000. We need to have all our public schools at 40000+ in stadium capacity. All they need to do is add an upper deck in the end one expansion and maybe a few seats in front of the scoreboard.

marshall's the only school i'd add. you can't make a compelling argument that market is the overriding influence in the makeup of this conference now or in the future. it's about adding as much prestige as is possibly left
