Toledo and the MACC
This didn't really fit in the Toledo predictions thread so I created a new thread.
Was thinking about Toledo and how their last MAC Championship game was in 2004. Remember Bruce Gradkowski to Lance Moore? They beat Miami 35 - 27 at Ford Field. It was the first MACC at FF.
Since, then 12 seasons have gone by. After Friday, 13.
For their final game, Toledo has had 6 home games and 6 away in that span. They are 6 - 6 in season finales, which may explain their lack of MAC titles in that span. WMU denied them a MACC opportunity the past two years. They are not a great November team.
During that same 12 seasons, WMU has had 6 home and 6 away. WMU is 6 - 6 in season finales in that span. Cubit was 4 - 4 and PJ was 2 - 2.
WMU is not a great November team either.
One team that has been good in November is NIU, although they are 3 - 4 in MACC games. They have not fared well when entering as a ranked team, going 1 - 2.
I made my prediction on this year's Toledo finale in the other thread.
As for the MACC itself. it's interesting to look at the history of the game and recall the goofy stuff that happened. 12 - 0 Ball St. getting steamrolled by Buffalo for example. Or Akron winning on that hail Mary.
In that 12 year span, this is who has been to the Championship game:
MACC APPEARANCES 2005 - 2016
N Illinois 7
Ohio 4
C Michigan 3
BGSU 3
Miami 2
Ball St 1
W Michigan 1
Buffalo 1
Akron 1
Kent St 1
