What has been the difference defensively the last two games? Clearly they are doing something better, but what is it?

Must be the coaching. 05-stirthepot
Glad to see he woke up after 15 games if that's the case. He must be well rested because that was quite the snooze.

I noticed the subbing in and out was a lot less. I always wondered why Coach subs the way he does. Sometimes we get in a groove and then here come the subs. The Northeastern game seemed to be different in that aspect. Was this intentional?

Very interesting comments on Keatts from Alex....

I for one would love for you to write that column since you have the unique perspective of a neutral third party mindset that fans don’t always get to see or ignore.

I agree. Despite the record, I think McGrath has said and done all of the right things during his short tenure. I am also glad he his here.

interesting thoughts for sure. Honestly though, we all knew Keatts was self serving he showed that by taking CJ. I don't think anyone has debated that C.B is a good dude, we have debated if he can coach or not.

Don’t tell 82Hawk that about Keatts.

Sorry, very disappointed in you Alex. If you want to praise McGrath personally, you should. He's a good guy. But going out of your way to take a personal swipe at Keatts was bush league.

Talk basketball, statistics, strategy, etc. No need to take personal shots at anyone associated with the program now or in the past.

I respect where you're coming from 82, and I apologize if what I said came off that way. I was just trying to show how each coach does things differently. Wasn't trying to take a swipe at Kevin, in fact I respect him and hope he does well at State or wherever he may end up throughout his career. I was just pointing out differences that I felt were interesting from then and now. If it came off as something more, my apologies.

Speaking of Bush league......................Keatts.... taking CJ....... It's kind of funny you defend one bush league move 82 and rip somoene for what you think is another.

Alex you did your job and said something based on your observations. There is a very good chance that you had way more interaction with our former coach than anyone here. Don't be sorry.

Am I the only one here that sees this stuff is quite common with college coaches? Some have gone even further to get recruits by hiring their high school coaches, or even their fathers to get said recruits. And now they are getting ready to drop the requirements for players having to sit a year. It is going to open the flood gates.

You have to realize most players go play more for coaches than they do the school. And why shouldn't coaches take advantage of the rules to help keep that lucrative contract. They're not thinking just of themselves, but also their families.

Exactly. Perhaps some on these boards weren't recruited for sports while they were in high school. Having had that experience, I can attest to when the recruiting visits occur, it's not the "school" sitting in your living room. It's a coach from a school. It's a coach selling themselves on how they will take care of your needs as an athlete, student, and life in general. When you're having conversations with your parents, the focus is often on which coach they feel fits the role you need as an athlete, student, and man/woman in general.

It's no surprise to me that when a coach leaves, his players may want out as well. It sucks as a fan, but that's the nature of the business, and if you don't think college athletics are a business for all involved you're sorely mistaken. D1 athletes in certain programs are looking for ways to continue themselves professionally, coaches are looking to keep their jobs, and the school is looking to capitalize off the athletic success of their recruits.

Getting twisted up and making it personal on any level as a fan is absolutely absurd, IMO.

You have done a fantastic job covering the team and I love the podcasts. And I know when you are doing a podcast you're talking off the cuff. No need to apologize. I just don't see any benefit in delving into opinions about personality and motivations(Keatts was about Keatts). No worries though, it's just my opinion.

Jacque Brown. He and Talley seem to have the best ball handling capabilities and they also played well together against Towson. As a Junior who has played beyond HS for a few seasons, is he a better option than Gary(a freshman) running the point when Talley sits? Or, could he sub in to allow other guards to rest as well.

IMO, he looked really confident and under control in a tough Towson game and i'd love to see more of him on the court.
