USM vs. Marshall
So what is this game deciding....

Who has an 8 win regular season?
For a better bowl?
For bragging rights?

Bragging rights mainly. I don't think 8-4 will necessarily get a better bowl than 7-5 in CUSA. You got us last year. We owe you some payback.

That being said. As long as your DC studies the Tecmo Bowl playbook and reviews WVU film when Don Nehlen coached, you'll be fine.

This might help your defense... Play We Will Rock you...and when it starts, say along with the beat, "Run Run Pass....run run pass, run run pass... "

Hope that helps.04-cheers

You guys are playing better. Your third string D is all you will need against our D team offense.

As long as Hopson keeps Griggs as the QB our chances will be decent. Now should Hopson or Dawson (OC) decide to put Howard in at QB it won't matter how bad your offense is because Howard is good for allowing 2-3 TDs by opposing defenses.

8 Win season? yes.
Better bowl? There is no such thing really. It’s all arbitrary.
Bragging right? No doubt

I respect the heck out of your program, Marshall fans. But, just like I feel when we play LA Tech, I want us to beat the tar out of y’all. Wish I could make it up to Huntington one year to see us play.

I'll be leaving out from Hattiesburg with the wife and youngest son on Friday morning headed up for the game. Will be the first year we have been able to make it to every game home and away. What can I say, retirement does have some benefits.

Marshall would be the best team we've beaten this year. Unarguably.

No disrespect to Marshall but UTSA just beat Marshall and we beat them.

I would think UTSA would have something to say about that statement.

Yeah that's true. UTSA has just been a bit underwhelming in general this year I suppose.

Underwhelming is a correct statement. Both games between Southern Miss and Marshall were close and could have went either way honestly.

RE: USM vs. Marshall
Just a breakdown of the Marshall defense vs the UTSA offense in that last series if you are interested in the Xs and Os. Really shows how the conservative defense lost that game for Marshall. UTSAs offense line is Swiss cheese as evidenced by a 3 man rush putting pressure on Sturm. All they really had to do was blitz Sturm like they had been all game.

Or, we could've had a pulse on offense

Yep, impressive defensive stats...against a schedule ranked 143rd in college football.

Not trying to be a jerk, but this is the USM/Marshall thread, not the hey, look at UTSA thread.

Best defense? Didn't look so good when we actually ran the hurry up. You got tee totally torched. We just have an OC that's an idiot. And let's not pretend you're miles above us. A two point win... AT HOME.

Yeah cause that usually works. We curbstomped ODU, who beat FIU, who beat us. Maybe you're getting curbstomped this week.
