Troy coach to Ole Miss?
Anyone else hearing this? Pretty reliable source let me know earlier today. Could be wrong, but he’s pretty reputable. I found it interesting. Thoughts?

I’ve not heard anything of that. Regardless Ole Miss will owe us about 3 million bucks. Finding another great coach and paying him $$$ won’t be a issue.

There’s going to be a lot good jobs open. So there’s not going to be enough “name” coaches to fill spots. I think a guy like Brown may land a P5 job this with so many openings. Brown has the resume for the job and knows the recruiting area enough .

Wouldn't blame him for taking that job.

I haven't heard anything of Brown going to Ole Miss though.

Lots of rumors flying around in the coach carousel. I had to listen to a razorpig fan tell me this morning how Gus is leaving Auburn and going to Fayettville. I fell the same on all these coaching changes. I'll believe it when they announce it. And Atlanta Trojan has the right attitude. Take the money and reload.

Although...to be serious, Brown to Ole Miss sounds like he skipped few steps. I doubt that happens.

In a normal year yes but there’s going more openings this year.

The Gus to Arkansas rumor is real even in Alabama. Gus is only a loss away from the hot seat at Auburn, no matter who or when the next loss is, it will put him right back on that hot seat. If he leaves he gets a blank slate and 4-5 years guaranteed, if he stays at auburn he could be fired by mid season next year.

And Arkansas is home.

Coaches jump from FCS to P5 schools. A winning coach at a G5 school will get looks from P5 schools. And Ole Miss isn't a great job, it's a good job, but not great. They are not an SEC power school.

I don't buy the Gus rumor mainly because of the Arkansas angle. There's a lot of bad blood with Gus and the pigs related to his one disaster of a season as OC there. It would take Arkansas being forced to admit they were wrong, something many top level people there will never do to attempt to bring Gus back.

If they did take that step, it would be significant in terms of showing who is (or really is not) in power anymore.

We've had this discussion on our board.

Who and which schools?

Granted, this year could be an exception due to the amount of turnover, but that shift directly from FCS to P5 has been very rare in the past 15-20 years.

Harbaugh to Stanford
London to Virginia
Tressell to tOSU

That's about the only ones I can think of.

Tress elk was the big one I was thinking of. And I know it was 25 years ago, but Terry Bowden went from Samford to Auburn.

I know Ole Miss is going to have issues with the fallout from their scandal(s), but to me Brown at Ole Miss seems like a fit. He fits better there than a lot of other places that have openings.

This years coaching carousel will undoubtedly be the most entertaining one in recent memory, due to all the openings and the early signing period.

Yeah...a great time for coachingsearch.com to go belly up. I liked that site.
