fmrick, you clearly haven't been paying attention if you think this is going to be our last chance to beat VCU for a while. Look at our roster. We're LOADED with young talent. Fact is, we probably should beat VCU for the next 3-4 years...especially if Rhoades has y'all playing his brand of defense.

You guys are going too hard on this vcu kid haha. I think he means to say VCU is a really hard team to beat in Richmond (he is not wrong). It's been a while since we've walked out of there with a victory. And our team is already hitting on all cylinders after the tournament so I'm hoping we can keep it going. Their team is a bit weak (relatively) at the moment.

Either way, make no mistake about it. VCU fans don't really care as much as we do. Ever since the conference changes, VCU-Richmond has been their premiere rivalry (yes, even as Richmond is a giant turd at the moment).

They'll start caring again when we send them out with a couple of shhhhhhhhhs in a row.

Hope we do win this game since some of our fans are sure talking some smack! I just looked up the record to make sure I knew what was what. Since 2000, we have won 13 times against the Rams out of 37 games by my count.

Another thing about all this young talent we have. Stith is a senior,BJ Stith a Junior, Porter a Junior, Caver a Junior and Haynes a Senior. This might be our year with that line up of upperclassmen. Looking good so far. A win in Richmond would be big. VCU just took UVA to the wire a couple days ago.They are tough to beat in Richmond. We win that one and I'm back on the 25-28 win total (barring injuries).

Might be your only chance to beat us in Richmond for a while. Mike Rhoades has an interesting group assembled for his first year here. We have nine new players and only 4 returning guys. But his recruiting for the future is going to be as good as we saw with Shaka and Will.

And he is home now, so he won't be leaving. This has been his dream job since he first got into coaching. When he was at Randolph Macon he and he was dating his wife-to-be, they used to come to VCU games for dates and he says they used to dream about him being the head coach. She is from Mechanicsville.

See you in 12 days. We are in Maui right now. Game on ESPN2 today at 2:30 pm and ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU the rest of the week.

Try going onto RamNation to get a word in as a Monarch fan and see how far you get. Chances are you wont even get an opportunity to join their boards. I tried and every attempt to open a new username, anything ODU related got denied as a new user. VCU fans are FRAGILE AS BIRD EGGS. Cant handle losing or outsider opinions, and love to bask among themselves patting each other on the a**.

I think its fair game we treat those a** flutes exactly how we have. If an ODU fan posted the same thing on their forum as FMDICK did on ours, there would be 25+ pages already of all those little Antifa losers up in arms over someone infiltrating their safe place.

Or... we can prove how we aren't like them, we aren't fragile little birds, and we can handle outside perspective and have a reasonable discussion with people who aren't of the ODU fanhood. That's what separates us from them, and why we are a better fanbase.

VCU lost but they still looked pretty good to me. ODU is going to have to keep Williams from driving to the basket (not easy) and guard Tillman close (not easy since he has size, 3 point range, can put it on the floor, and can post up). He is going to be a tough match-up for any of our 3 big guys.

I don't see Caver playing 40 minutes against their pressure so someone is going to have to contribute pressure minutes off the bench against the press without turning it over.

Interesting. I've been thoroughly unimpressed with VCU this year. Expectedly so.

Marquette just had to do all of those things, plus rain 3 pointers on them to get the win. Tillman hit his first 8 or 9 shots from the floor a few games ago at home, and I believe all of them were from post up moves against a similar sized guy.

Tillman is tough but same could be said for Porter. He'll give them a lot of trouble. Plus remember that we had a late lead on them the last time up there with Stith out due to a bad knee injury.

Williams is a tough kid who plays physical and bumps you a ton (think Giddy Potts), but Caver will be alright with an aggressive Haynes not hesitating to fire along side him.

So there are very interesting matchups all over the floor. But the real fun one to watch will be among the 4 star players on the court...BJ vs DJ. And BJ is pure athlete.

And ODU is going to win. We're a tad behind in the series. I've been involved in this thing since we were dominating the ECAC and they were Sun Belt and it always proves out pretty even. It just does.

Marquette didn't shot all that great though...36% on threes. They just took a lot of them.

I watched the 2nd half of VCU's game today. I wasn't impressed with either team. The defense was horrid and the offenses still turned the ball over 16 times each (or something like that). Marquette killed VCU on the offensive glass, and while they made more threes than we'll make it a week, they took a million of them. It's hard to win their arena, but our size will frustrate them.

My biggest concern first is our lack of depth on the front line with size. We have to stay our of foul trouble and the way VCU plays that is hard to do sometimes.
Second concern is enough depth at point guard to handle the VCU pressure.
Third and big concern is can we make our free throws because VCU will foul the crap out of you. Marquette made a tons of tree throws and that really hurt VCU.
You can't just let VCU stand there and shoot 3 pointers because they have designated spots where certain players can make them if you don't guard them.

VCU's press was not good today. Their defense was like what I see at the Y when the other team thinks they are going to use full court pressure.

Vcu can kiss my ass. Even the tickets through odu are like $45 for gen admission. 3 tickets plus the $3.50 fee for each and a $5 will call charge because that's the ONLY way they'll give them to you it ended being $150.50. Yeah hell will freeze over before they get that much money from me. So I'll be going somewhere in Richmond to laugh at vcu fans when we kick their ass.

Me and my friend will be at William n Mary though
