Merchandise Sales Boom for UAB
Shouldn't a portion of the extra money generated for merchandise sales be given to the football program? Isn't this what other universities do?

That's great stuff. Glad to see the return of football and the increased student life is leading to more sales.

Having more vendors apply for licenses should also be helping UAB's bottom line.

The increased student life from 2014 to present is also a result of UAB football even though Watts won't directly admit it.

Here it is all spelled out for him how UAB football is beneficial for the school.

This explains why I have been trying to get a long sleeve UAB t shirt for 3 weeks and haven't been able to find any in stock.

Apart from the increased visibility publicly by more UAB merchandise being seen around, it increases revenue to the athletic department correct? At least the officially licensed gear. It should also make any future apparel deals more lucrative if we keep up the growth.

Pretty sure it goes to Business & Auxillary Services which is a part of UAB administration.

Which specifically means it doesn't go to the athletics department, much like revenue generated by Bartow Arena (or, at least that's how Bartow operated in the past). It's a very rare setup compared to basically every other Division 1 school

Yep. Although I think they also pick up the operational expenses and any debt payments if any of that is still outstanding.

Sounds like a damn good reason for an administration to support its athletic programs.
