RE: Week 13 games with bowl interest
With the possibility of having 80 or so eligible teams there’s a chance that several 6 win teams could be sitting at home. With 7+ win teams getting priority over 6 win teams it could cause some last minute bartering to get 10 CUSA teams in a bowl assuming La Tech beats UTSA. One possible positive is one of the current 4-6 teams (New Mexico St) who has a realistic chance of getting to 6 wins is being rumored to bypass a bowl game if eligible due to financial reasons unless its bowl game is one nearby

https://sports.yahoo.com/new-mexico-stat...14804.html

according to a report from NBC 9 in El Paso, the school may be forced to be picky about bowl locations if it gets selected for a postseason appearance because of financial reasons. Lower-tier bowl games are typically costly enterprises for schools and New Mexico State isn’t in a position to absorb a financial hit.

“If you stick us too far back east, then it becomes a financial issue with our fans and if you’re obligated to buy X number of tickets and we can’t sell them to our fans, then it becomes a costly enterprise,” New Mexico State chancellor Garrey Carruthers told the station.

Minimum 75 6+ win teams as Buffalo beats Ohio 31-24.

12 teams still in the running for 3 spots after taking out the 8 teams playing head-to-head for 4 spots.

RE: Week 13 games with bowl interest
I got 79-80 making it. That means 1-2 teams gets ditched.

A few things could happen to change that number.

1. Louisiana loses out
2. Florida beats FSU
3. Tulsa beats Temple
4. UNLV loses to Nevada

If all this happens, then it wouldn't matter. Then, there would be enough spots for all of us. However, I-2 think one gets left holding the bag.

The NMSU situation could be interesting if it can't be placed regionally. It was one of the 78 teams projected to make it based on this week's ratings.

Buffalo was not projected to win today, but Ohio had numerous injuries that hampered its offense.

Texas gifts Texas Tech a bowl bid as the Texas freshman QB melts down again in crunch time.

76 guaranteed teams now. 11 teams still in the running with two spots available.

Entire Sun Belt bowl situation is screwy. Especially if the rumors that NOLA wants no part of ULL this year turn out to be true The Cajuns have never been left for the rest of the bowls to pick from before, and I'm not sure anyone is sure how the bowls will react as a result.

Things are certainly shaping up for several to be left at home. Here’s to Tech besting UTSA in triple OT only be be left out of a bowl. 04-cheers

Our big advantage is that the Independence Bowl is pretty desperate for a team that can actually put some butts in the seats at a weekday game in Shreveport.

If we win, I think we play in the I-Bowl. If we lose, I think UTSA does.

UTSA headed to AF bowl - win or lose. Just need UNT to lose to FAU so we can ship them to the NM bowl. Surely with the added P5s in play the HoD going to CUSA dries up.

RE: Week 13 games with bowl interest
With the way games are playing out I could see 82-84 bowl eligible teams possibly assuming Georgia Tech gets a waiver due to having a game cancelled. If so there could be multiple CUSA bowl eligible teams staying home. Here’s the current CUSA win totals:

FAU - 8
UNT - 9 (reg season complete)
UAB - 8 (reg season complete)
USM - 7
Marshall - 7
FIU - 7
WKU - 6 (regular season complete)
UTSA - 6 (plays La Tech)
ODU - 5 (plays MT)
MT - 5 (plays ODU)
La Tech - 5 (plays UTSA)

Figure all the 6-win P5 programs that aren't fulfilling their respective conference's bowl berths will be picked out of the free-agent pool first. So how many spots will there be for the G5 leftover pool? I don't hold out a lot of hope for the ODU-Middle Tennessee winner. Louisiana Tech has a better chance because of their proximity to bowls.

But a waiver won't do Georgia Tech any good if there's enough teams to fill the 78 spots, which seems exceedingly likely, right? Because the six-win teams must be selected before the five-win teams. Or would a waiver also waive that requirement and allow GT to be treated like a six-win team?

Duke makes it 77 guaranteed teams by beating Wake Forest. Projection now at 81 teams.

8 teams still have a shot to add to the 77-team pool. 84 is the maximum possible.

With the current rules documented in the NCAA postseason handbook, 6-6 teams that lose in a conference championship game to finish 6-7 can't be picked unless there are openings after all other 6-6 or better teams are selected. Same should apply to 5-6 waiver teams.

Georgia Tech should have scheduled a game #12 next week. But it should forget about asking for a waiver after getting whipped by a combined 54 the last two weeks.

73 teams now bowl eligible with at least 3 more today due to head to head 5-6 matchups

Friday: (all times central)
12:00 pm - Buffalo (5-6) host Ohio (8-3) - Buffalo won (#71)
7:00 pm - Texas Tech (5-6) at Texas (6-5) - Texas Tech won (#72)
9:30 pm - Cal (5-6) at UCLA (5-6) - UCLA won (#73)

Saturday:
11:00 am - Georgia Tech (5-5) host Georgia (10-1) - GT lost but could get a waiver
11:00 am - Florida St (4-6) at Florida (4-6) - Florida lost but FSU should get eligible next week vs UL Monroe
11:00 am - Indiana (5-6) at Purdue (5-6) - Purdue won (#74)
11:00 am - Tulane (5-6) at SMU (6-5) - Tulane lost
11:30 am - Duke (5-6) at Wake Forest (7-4) - Duke up 8 with 8 minutes left
2:00 pm - ODU (5-6) at Middle Tennessee (5-6)
2:00 pm - UL Monroe (4-6) host Arkansas St (6-3)
2:00 pm - UNLV (5-6) at Nevada (2-9)
2:30 pm - Minnesota (5-6) host Wisconsin (11-0)
3:00 pm - Temple (5-6) at Tulsa (2-9)
3:00 pm - New Mexico St (4-6) host Idaho (3-7)
4:00 pm - UL Lafayette (5-5) host Georgia Southern (1-9)
6:30 pm - La Tech (5-6) host UTSA (6-4)
9:00 pm - Colorado (5-6) at Utah (5-6)

**Georgia Tech and Florida both only play 11 games.
** Florida St, UL Monroe, UL Lafayette and New Mexico St all play game #12 next week

But a waiver won't do Georgia Tech any good if there's enough teams to fill the 78 spots, which seems exceedingly likely, right? Because the six-win teams must be selected before the five-win teams. Or would a waiver also waive that requirement and allow GT to be treated like a six-win team?

My assumption would be the waiver allows them to be treated as a 6 win team but hopefully I’m wrong
