Sounds like you guys have a lot going for you. The only worry is where you're going to get fans from with GT and UGA so close in proximity. You also have the same problem USA and UAB have. If they're not at a UGA or GT game, their next choice probably isn't football when they live in vibrant metro like Atlanta. Plenty of great non-football things to do there. See: FIU. Even Miami football has struggled to break people away from it's nightlife atmosphere.

Look, I don’t have nothing against GSU. They arnt even a rival. But what on the field has justified moving to another conference? If it was about that Troy probably would have been gone in the 00s. Facilities? Yes we got one of the best there too. It’s about markets.

You think FIU left because of all the winning they did? Or their great facilities? Lol

Time for a fanbase that wants so desperately to more than a G5 program to grow up.

Your fanbase wants more but wants others to handle the heavy lifting and the jump on the bandwagon at a convenient time. Maybe that’s just all of Atlanta, is there a worse sports town?

how about you worry about App State's problems in Boone? Let Charlie Cobb and Mark Becker plan our next move out of SunBelt.

Where is that, exactly? the AAC, or directly to the NFC South?

No way we start a football program
No way we move to FBS
No way we beat Georgia Southern in 10 years
No way we have our own football stadium
No way we move to AAC down the road
Keep doubting us......no wonder Panthers fans eventually got tired of this forum

Lol. And now we've come full circle.

It is funny that GSU fans for years touted the Atlanta market and were told none of that matters. It is all about everything else. Now that we're starting to check some very important boxes, it is just about the market.

We have been down this road before... FIU, FAU, UNT. I’ve said it for years it’s been about markets and seen others say it to.

It’s all mute anyway because no one is going anywhere soon

Btw what box have u checked? 6 win season?

If you win today you might be on the way to checking off a box

Again, facilities would be one.

And yes, sustained football success would be the next big one. Today's game is huge.

I’m not trying to rub y’all the wrong way, but only thing you guys got over everyone in this league is Atlanta and CUSA and AAC love those market schools. And IMO that will come full circle and hurt them and already has hurt CUSA a lot

Point is, you guys are better off in SBC than CUSA or AAC at this point. And at probably any point in CUSA

Wait. So are you really insinuating that Troy doesn’t have to contend with in state P5s? This problem is unique to schools like GSU? Have you heard of Auburn and Alabama????

No I didn't say any of that. Of course we do. You read what you wanted to read. They're hundred of miles of way where UGA and GT are literally in your backyard. We also don't have any other forms of entertainment in our 20,000+ population. It's a very different situation. We also have over 100 years of generations of football families. You guys don't have that kind of "hand me down" fanbase yet. These are real problems you guys face.

I don't think many GSU fans would disagree with you and if they do, they're wrong. This is a different conversation in a few years.

Still have to win and that starts today with App State.

App / GS / GSU is turning into this hate triangle right before our very eyes.

I hope Coastal is good enough soon to make it a hate square.

East Coast schools gotta hate one another!

I don’t hate Georgia State. They’re uppity as hell, but they’ve scored 6 points on my ‘Neers in 3 games so I just shrug and smile when they talk about how big and strong they’ll be when they eat their Wheaties. Plus, Shawn Elliot is loud and sweaty. You don’t want to make eye contact with a guy like that.

Born and raised in the south, and if my team is playing I don’t give a damn about other college football games being played at the same time, I drove past four rivalry P5 venues to watch my team today.

And how many years have you had a program?

Nice that Cobb is sticking it to his former employer by announcing all these promos after a majority of App fans have bought tickets.
