He seems better suited for a redshirt year to me than Wilson. I think Wilson can help the team, but evidently the coaching staff feels differently. Smith is there to provide leadership, as he's a very limited player. Guys coming in next season make sense -- a true point guard and a shooter. Need a low post threat still.
I know what you are saying, but I'd hope nobody would ever write off a true freshman just 5 games into their collegiate career.

I remember going to the convo when you hardly could find a ticket. I want those days back and I thought we might go that direction last year with a good hire. Being a JMU fan for over 30 years now, I do not remember a hire that I have scratched my head over and over and tried to make sense of , as with Rowe. I hear and have mutual friends with Lou and hear he is a great guy, however I have 0 confidence in him to take this team anywhere. I have tried to watch games last year and this year, and it so hard to watch. I know I am repeating a lot of stuff you guys have said, but there are not a lot of JMU fans where I live and I just need a place to vent at times. I want Rowe to succeed, but how many years do we have to endure of JMU basketball being in the tank! I would love to read a headline soon that we are taking bball serious again at JMU, and hiring up!
Lou will get at least 3 years to see what he can do. He's 1.16 years into his time leading JMU MBB. He signed a solid class this past year. When you have to rely on so many new faces and young'uns, it is never a preferred recipe for success. As some wise gentleman once said, the best thing about freshmen is they turn into sophomores. I have confidence Lou will continue to bring in good talent which will be developed. We will lose some guys as they transfer out but that is a reality for ALL 300+ D1 programs these days. Give these guys time to grow up and let's see what they (and Lou) can do.
This year, it was known - or should have been known - we'd struggle with so many new faces - especially early. If in Year 3 we are still losing games like we did this past weekend, then the FIRE LOU ROWE rhetoric will be justified. Until then, I'll be patient and see what unfolds. If Lou fails, he won't be the first or last. If he succeeds after struggling the first 2 years, he will join an extremely long list of those who have followed that route. In fact, it is more the norm than the exception - that is, to struggle the first 2-3 years before things start to click (even guys like K at Duke, for example).
Chins up! Lots of hoops left in this season. And, the REAL season begins December 30th.

RE: JMU vs UT-San Antonio Hoops
I wasn't giving up on Jones yet at all, just mentioning who can help the team in immediate future and who looks like surefire CAA starters. Hes well built and hopefully develops. On the whole I think this frosh class was really a great one for the CAA. But they need to keep bringing in talent so in 2 years this team can be competing for CAA titles and continue to do so. That should be the goal especially once the new arena is built. Recruiting is an inexact science, you cant be right on every player so you need to keep getting "good" guys so enough pan out.
The 2019 class to me seems like it needs some quality guys still from the little ive read/watched on them.

RE: JMU vs UT-San Antonio Hoops
Side note regarding MBB, now that we know the FB Dukes will be hosting a game on Dec. 2nd kicking off at 2pm, I wonder if JMU will schedule the MBB game hosting Charlotte for a 6pm tip. With the FB game finishing up around 5pm - and a potential for a blowout win (read: fans leaving early) - I would think they'd want to schedule it to optimize the chances of getting folks to wander over to the Convo after the FB game. It has been scheduled as "TBA" ever since the schedule release with this in mind I believe.

I know ESPN tends to be inaccurate, but they now show a 7pm tip. Makes sense considering some of the athletics staff will need time to close out the postgame football activities and still get to the Convo well ahead of the start.
