Baltimore cop in ‘grave condition’ after being shot in the head
Please keep this officer in your thoughts and prayers. Doesn't sound good, but hope he survives.

Quote:A homicide detective in Maryland was shot in the head while in a troubled area of the city’s western district Wednesday night.

The unidentified Baltimore police officer, an 18-year veteran of the force, was shot around 4:30 p.m. by a man who approached him while engaging in “suspicious behavior,” according to Fox 45 Baltimore.

The officer is reportedly in “grave condition” and on life support in the intensive care unit.

The department, which is still searching for the suspect, tweeted earlier Wednesday to “Please say an extra prayer for the officer and the officer’s family.”

Police cordoned off streets in the West Baltimore area and a tactical unit combed alleyways as they searched for a shooter. Numerous cruisers responded and a police helicopter buzzed overhead, illuminating streets below with a searchlight.

The neighborhood where the officer was shot has a number of vacant row houses and has been the scene of numerous shootings over the years.

Mayor Catherine Pugh, Police Commissioner Kevin Davis and other officials gathered at the Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center where the officer was apparently being treated. They did not talk with reporters.

Wednesday’s shooting of the police officer comes amid a particularly violent period in Baltimore: So far this year, the city of less than 620,000 inhabitants has seen more than 300 homicides.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ Baltimore field division, the FBI’s Baltimore field office and the DEA’s Baltimore district office are offering a reward of up to $60,000 for information leading to the arrest of the gunman.

The only logical behavior is to not police the city. Let them kill each other.

Sad, but true. Of course with that stellar State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby in Baltimore, unless an officer is involved, she could care less if the bodies pile up.

Well, and ultimately this is is exactly what they asked for.

Cops OFF the streets. Respond only, no proactive anti-crime methodology.

See a thug? Wait til he shoots or stabs someone, theeeen you can move on him. Not before, that would be thugfiling.

May as well just dress up a bunch of coroners as Cops and have them fill in. The Po-PO can then get on about the people’s business of directing traffic and issuing parking tickets.

Suggest Moseley and her merry band of morons stock up on body bags though. Speed things along and all...

Very sad to say that this brave officer has died of his wounds. Detective Sean Suiter was 43 years old and leaves behind his wife and five children. So sad.

Geeeeez. That’s just awful, and so many wonder why cops are often on edge, even in routine traffic stops etc. 5 kids, young guy.

Ridiculous.

RE: Baltimore cop in ‘grave condition’ after being shot in the head
I lived in Baltimore in the 1990's, that's a ROUGH neighborhood! I asked about using Highway 40 as a shortcut between 695 and the inner harbor and life long residents said Never, take the long route on 695. I figured how bad can it be so I tried it ONCE. Where the officer was shot describes exactly how I remembered the area, blocks of boarded up row houses as you drove through you hoped you didn't come to a red light.
