He looked like a much different QB Wednesday night, moving better and doing a keeper for a TD.
This reminds me of his early season performance.
Yep. The Ball State and Miami games were reminiscent of his performance the first two games...and the 2016 season. I could be way off but he just looked and played different after the bye week.
Looking back at the season...the teams we've lost to are having pretty darn good seasons; so, my attitude on our wins/losses has changed from being very disappointed to one in which we came very close to beating some teams who will be in bowl games and that still is an improvement in the program. The out of conference teams we've played, with the exception of Charlotte and Rutgers, are having good seasons. So, in the end, I don't think this team or its fan base has anything to hang its collective head about. Just being this close is miles ahead of where we were two years ago.
In another thread I wrote that the progression of the program in 2016/17 was backwards. What I mean by that is...if we had had this season/outcome last year we all would have been encouraged because it would have been progress over the 2015 season. We would have been in every game and that wasn't the case in 2015. But...we had a very good season, by EMU standards, last year and it kind of spoiled us and gave us expectations for 2017. In the end, EMU is improving and, right now, is a 6/7 win team...regardless of the current record. I am "okay" with that because it shows consistency in the program and consistency is something that had been lacking. Goodness, a few years ago I was tracking the loss margins of every game and it was shocking.
I was a freshman in 1983. The first game of the season we were leading the nation in consecutive losses. At some point we beat either Marshall or Liberty and the fans went crazy. I was also a student in 1987 when we won the MAC (we were ranked nationally ahead of Michigan that year) and tore the southern goal post down after the game. It was awesome to be on campus then. So, like you, I have seen t all at EMU and I feel very good about what Coach Creighton is doing. I guess what I am trying to say is that our football program is on a positive trajectory with some hiccups here and there, That happens, especially with college kids. Just look at MSU last season and Mark Dantonio has been there 10 years. We are doing fine.
