Question for Tulane/NOLA People
My wife and I are leaving our toddler with his grandparents for a weekend (first time we've ever left him) and are headed to New Orleans the first weekend in December.

We have Club Level tickets to the Panthers @ Saints game, so that will take up a portion of our Sunday. But other than that, we will be getting to NOLA early on Saturday, and won't be leaving until Monday afternoon.

We're staying at the DoubleTree on Canal Street, and other than the Panthers/Saints game, we have absolutely nothing planned.

What the heck should we do with our time? We are both 33 years old, and love authentic local food wherever we go... and love craft beer & good wine.

I listened to enough Lil Wayne in my younger years to know to stay away from Hollygrove, but that's about it. 03-lmfao I've been to NOLA once before, back in 2012 or 2013 when ECU played in the New Orleans Bowl, but all we did was eat at Mother's, go to the game, and get plastered on Bourbon Street.

Thanks in advance!

With all due respect, there is a litany of options and plenty of sites for NOLA tourism. Everyone will have a different opinion and really depends on what you enjoy. Obviously get a nice meal. For entertainment there are tours for a variety of NOLA centric places (swamp, cemeteries, city, plantations etc.).

Personally I would recommend riding the street car down St Charles and spending Sat. night on Frenchmen street, probably catch a show at Snug Harbor.

As for food, it depends if you want fancy or local.

The D-Day Museum was recently ranked #2 behind the Smithsonian in the US, a great time. We have a great zoo and aquarium. The Casino is across the street from your hotel. The quarter is a blast as is the Frenchman Street area.

We have festivals out the yazoo this time of year as well, so much to do.....

The Fairgrounds Horse Racetrack will be open. We have a great Museum of Art...

Food - one of the best cities in the world.....My favorite, GW Fins in the quarter, can't beat it (if you like fresh fish). Commander's Palace (James Beard Award Winner), Antoine's, Dickie Brennan's Steak House, The Bourbon House, Gautreau's, Broussard's,,,I could go on and on and on....

You could always just walk in the quarter, find some live music and catch something to eat, it will be good wherever you go...

Enjoy, hope you have fun.
