MAC Bowls
Just reading a CBS spot from last weekend regarding bowl teams 2017. 59 teams are in technically, Akron win last night should make it 60. 19 teams left with a chance to fill 18 remaining slots based on various outcomes. Here is where it gets interesting for MAC fans. The MAC only has four bowl tie in contracts this year. They do have three associate fall back deals if not enough six win teams are out there. That likely won't be a issue this fall. So the debate could be what six win teams actually get an invite? Would be nice to have seven wins so we don't have to fall back on scheduling. Ironically, Akron and CMU winning lately could help or hurt us in long run. USC/MSU still ranked top 25 really helps.
Debate on !

One of the recent bowl projections has us playing Boston College at Ford Field on 12/26/17 in the Quick Lane Bowl

I would salivate for that, but probably too good to be true.

I just want a P5 opponent. Even if we get smoked I want a chance to beat them. G5 vs. G5 would potentially be a really interesting game for us and the other school but wouldn't do anything for anyone else.

I like the P5 match-ups for sure, but seems like our bowl record is so dismal because we always play pretty tough teams.

A bowl game will give us more practice time.
Which we desperately need heading in to 2018...

Exactly. A bowl game is 3-4 more weeks of practice. It's a reward for players after a rough year. It's exposure for the program, a chance for another pennant for your stadium.
With our relatively inexperienced QB's and WRers we can use that extra practice and it'll project well into spring ball.

Did you see CMU's bowl game last year? How was that for exposure?

RE: MAC Bowls
Every year there’s a handful of teams that have no business being in a bowl game. This year it’s our turn to be among that group.
Let’s get the “extra playing time”. I doubt teams playing a game in late December have that much more of a built-in advantage next season over teams that finished in late November. But hey, can’t hurt I suppose. Some more bonding time with the coaching staff too.
Collectively, what’s the Over/Under on number of MAC bowl wins this year? 1?

RE: MAC Bowls
How many injured players would be healthy for the bowl game? That could make a big difference.
Additionally, I'm hoping for a 6-6 Sun Belt or CUSA team. It would be difficult (IMO) to win against any other type of team.

CSU finished 7-5 and 5-3 in the MWC. That would be a difficult match IMO.
Colorado State 2017 Results.

Noted it in the other thread, but we're projected for Detroit by both ESPN picks.

Western Kentucky and Utah? Yuck to both.
I guess I would slightly prefer Utah just for something different and have a shot at taking down a PAC-12 team.

WKU is currently 6-5, 4-3 (C-USA). Interesting scores are against Ball State (win 33-21) and Illinois (loss 20-7).
Utah is currently 5-6, 2-6 (Pac-12). Utah's scores look somewhat competitive but inconsistent in winning. http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa-17/2017-...hedule.php

If we go to Ford Field we likely get a ACC team.
