Win over a St. Joe’s team that played without one returning double-digit scorer who is injured and had its best player (recovering from ACL injury) limited to 20 minutes (scored 21 points in that 20 minutes)
Win by 10 over a D-III team that returned 2 starters from a 16-win team last year, in a game that we didn’t have under control until about 3 minutes left

I guess I’m just not easily impressed. Beat Oakland Saturday and I’ll shut up. But the Rocket team that played tonight wouldn’t win 5 games in the MAC.

In the words of Aaron Rodgers, R-E-L-A-X. It's the second game of the season. I really don't understand why you are taking away from their victory against St. Joe's. That was a good win against a quality opponent and a well-coached team. Teams all over the country (like Kentucky and Michigan that were already mentioned) are having close games against teams that are lower level competition.

That's just bcunn's style. He lends a nice balance to those at the Pollyanna end of the scale. If we beat Duke he'd complain that Coach K got out coached by Coach K and we only won because they lost their third McD All/American recruit to Kansas. 03-wink

He said most skilled that is a different thing.

Talented and skilled are synonyms.

Bingo.

Just filling my role...this Board is FAR more interesting than many other fan message boards, and I hope it stays that way.

yeah but rbbf is also filling the "don't get your panties in a wad" role. Wouldn't be a message board without us.

Great play. Saw it in London, Ontario. Plato, right?

In all fairness, both of those teams are D1, Utah valley is projected to win the WAC and Vermont is a historically strong program.

..and you have to feel bad for Calipari because his team is loaded with freshman....why does that happen to him year after year after year?

RE: Mean while the Rocket men
I'm betting my 8th grade basketball coach could teach more fundamentals and have more enthusiasm in the team than this guy called Coach K has been able to demonstrate. I just see so many basic fundamentals missing in this team that would have driven Bobby Nichols nuts. He would have been benching all the starters - followed by all the reserves, because no one seems to know how to play. Lauf seemed to be the only guy that consistently played a fundamentally sound game on the floor. Of course, my viewing of games was limited, but I never saw anything that showed me this guy knew how to develop a group of players into a team.

To me they looked like a Nichols’ team on offense against St. Joe. Assists on nearly every basket, precise back cuts, crisp outlet passes, penetration with kick outs to open shooters, guys giving up good shots for great shots- beautiful, rhythmic basketball. Defense is more like “let them score so we can get the ball back”. The offense took a huge step back against ONU. Defense remained the same.
