RE: WBB @ Louisville Game Thread
Did some good things, but did a lot of little things poorly.

Free throw shooting was better, 14-21, but overall shot 30% and 20% from 3. Some of the shooting can be attributed to UL's defense, but they missed a ton of wide open looks too. Rebounding was the killer, 57-27 UL. Can't hope to stay close with a differential like that. Actually had less turnovers than UL, so that's another good thing. Only 5 points off the bench.

Bravo-Harriott with 16, Santucci 13, McIntyre 14.
McIntyre with 7 boards.
Boyd 5 assists.

Hopefully, there were some “lessons learned” from this top 5 matchup. It’s the rare MAC team that beats a top 10 team, especially on the road. Sounds like things just snowballed quickly for the Rockets. Shame that the final margin was so big but no shame in the loss itself to a team like Louisville.

RE: WBB @ Louisville Game Thread
The wife and I were at the men game against Division III Ohio Northern (hey, at least they won) and I missed the women's game although the wife brought her headset and listened to it on the radio. I had hoped for a better showing----something on par with their game against #2 Notre Dame last year where they played head to head competitively with Notre Dame for much of the game, although they ended up losing by 17 points (a little less than half the margin of the loss to Louisville). This year Coach Cullop appears to had decided to run an up tempo offense and it paid off against St Francis (I thought SF was the better team in the first half but they seemed tired most of the second half and IMO that cost them the game) it may take a bit of time to adjust to the new style and I am not sure that that style lends itself to the same intensity on defense the ladies usually play either, but it is still early and they should improve as they become better adjusted to the up tempo style.

And just because they may not ready for prime time yet doesn't mean they won't get there eventually. It is how you are playing in March, not November that will make or break the season. Just think back to last year: they really caught fire in the last week of the regular conference season with three BIG wins (that might have been considered upsets at the time) to earn a 6th seed in the MAC tournament and that momentum stayed with them going long enough to win the MACC (although it was destroyed by the glitter and excitement of an NCAA Tournament bid).
