Being 5-5 will do it, in Huntington we are on the verge of having the same thing happen at 7-3. Not pointing a finger at WKU ,mostly at Marshall, it is called fair weather fans.

5-5 is a killer, the fans are just down on the program a little. But the biggest issue was the high school playoffs, 4 local teams still playing including the two biggest programs in Bowling green and they played each other last night in Bowling Green. High. School football is huge here

Gotta be careful, people. The collective sigh of relief from Hilltopper nation combined with the earth rattling Stockstill frustration and footstomping from MT's camp could like create a massive sinkhole in Portland, TN or something

That was an entertaining game last night. I think Mike White is better then Stock right now, but I think Stock is still less then 100% healthy, and White clearly had the better receivers.
For being a 60+ year old rivalry, I was very disappointed in the attendance. If you guys can't start getting more fans to this game, I'm going to start calling it the "100 Miles of Indifference".

No, at least in Huntington its called being a depressed area economically and having a general population with very little discretionary income. Our illustrious AD told the non donors and non season tix holders he didn't need them in his tweets last fall. So they listened and took their dollars elsewhere. Marshall is its own worst enemy on this one.

I don't know. It's just entertainment. I have no control over any of this. I've gotten too worked up over all of this and am taking a step back. The playcalling was bad. Really bad. I can't do anything about but watch the car wreck happen so it is what it is.
I gotta say something though. WKU's facilities are great. The campus and overall environment is a lot better than ours. The dedication of the school to their football program is admirable. Our school is a duality of sorts and the rest of the school does not support the athletics at all really. WKU's campus bookstore is impressive and they had all of their official gear their in one spot, not 3. The stadium is smaller much better designed and the brickwork makes it fancier than it is which is so smart. They got great branding all over the place and the clock tower ringing in the background after a victory is pretty awesome. They are doing it right up there unlike tweedle dee and tweedle dumb down in the boro. Gotta say WKU has got their crap together and we don't. Plain and simple.

Thanks for the kind words, not easy thing to do after taking a loss , especially to a rival. It was a heck of a game as usual and glad you was able to make the trip and see the campus. I truly think WKU has a special experience to offer people, just more people need to realize that.

RE: ** 100 MILES OF HATE ** (Friday Night Lights Edition)
I’m disappointed in the folks that are disappointed in our attendance.
We’ve explained our situation over and over. Our attendance is what it is. Not gonna make any great leap. Not gonna happen.
It’s usually someone we beat that brings it up. That’s not the case in this thread but still just as useless.
No school in this conference is moving up to anywhere. And attendance is not going to decide it anyway.
We’re all in the same boat. Just try to put together some good teams in all sports and enjoy it when you have a good one. Maybe attendance played into it in past conference call ups but that is not the case now.
Don’t be disappointed. Why would you be? I honestly don’t get it. Back when FAU and FIU struggled with attendance it never once led me to be disappointed. I honestly can’t fathom it.
Attendance is down EVERYWHERE. Hell, UK basketball is crying about their student attendance being down. UK BASKETBALL. Attendance is not going up in any sport except maybe soccer and that’s cause they started at the bottom.

I certainly buy the depressed area economically , but to suggest something the AD said cost us thousand of fans gives Hamrick far to much credit and offers a convenient excuse. The Herd fan base has changed, most every post on their message board turns into a ***** fest, and it suggest a far different fan base than we are accustomed to.

Yep, the difference comes down to leadership. wkcc has better leadership than MT right now particularly in the respective president's office. We need to remove our president like Charlotte needs a new AD.
wkcc has done everything right with the move up. We ****** it up two ways from Sunday. Congratulations goats. You got us again.

Western had made the right moves except for a AD deciding to hire a football coach that took a fun offensive system build on scoring and winning championship. In a 180 degree different way.
Middle really needs to hire this coach away from Western....TODAY!
These Middle/Western games have a way of ending up exciting and close. This game was close from start to finish and exciting after 3/4 was over.
If Middle had used the area of the field right behind Western's linebackers....
the MIDDLE, Western would not have stopped you from scoring during the first 3 quarters. I was glad to see Middle keep throwing sideline type passes. It was almost like the Middle coaches had not watched any film on this Western team.

If you haven't noticed there are very few fans who think our coaching staff is anything more than abysmal. Who knows what they do game prep-wise. I'm just glad that I have grown numb to it all. A few years ago I'd be going postal over all of this. Now? Meh...

This is fake news! Our stock market is at a all time high, tax cuts for all, the economy is booming, and our president said we are winning so much we will be begging for it to stop. West Virginia and coal are winning! Once we repeal Obamacare and cut taxes the companies will give everyone raises so they can go to even more Marshall games!

Whether you believe it or not, it has cost us fans, who knows how many. Hamrick is terrible at PR and hiring coaches, that's been proven in his AD career. He is good at facility building and scheduling. It was damn stupid to say what he said. This is a business and he is running our product in the ground. Add that to the fact attendance is down everywhere for the most part. Hell UK is bitching about the lack of student attendance at their basketball games so far.
But yeah, blaming the fans is an easy out for those in the Schewey, the super fans and those on Hamricks nutsack.

Well, I somewhat disagree with you guys here. We just replaced our president of 20 years who was arguably the biggest WKU sports fan there is. He did a lot to push for WKU to never settle in athletics despite budget cuts and enrollment declines. However, I have some doubts about the future leadership and their dedication to athletics. New president seems to be pandering to the faculty who want to get paid more despite dramatic budget cuts. Plus, the faculty have been critical of anything sports related for many years. The combo of the two makes me think WKU athletics will be put on the back burner for the foreseeable future compared to the previous administration. The new administration has also been cracking down on students tailgating this season, and our student attendance & game day atmosphere went from being one of the best around to just mediocre because of it.
Only silver lining is that I think we will be okay as long as we have Todd Stewart in the AD's office. When he leaves, I think we will be in deep trouble.
