Agree, but when and how did Colgate achieve this? Understand Penn with their not playing in the playoffs, but Colgate?

Yeah, so we'd have to win Saturday, win the NC, beat NC State, and then win our next 5 or 6 to get the record. We have a GREAT chance at pulling into second. First is going to be very tough.

Unfortunately I think NDSU has the winning streak with 33, but something we should still strive to achieve!

NC State is the most serious roadblock to us breaking the record. Not sure who they get back next year but they're a much-improved team.

RE: FCS Longest Winning Streaks
The Colgate one looks right to me because, according to their website, they didn't participate in the 02 playoffs.
In 2002, they won their last six regular season games but finished tied with Fordham at 6-1 in the PL. Fordham beat them head to head so Fordham got the autobid.

http://athletics.colgate.edu/Football/ar...hedule.htm

In 03, they went 12-0 in the regular season. Then they won 3 playoff games but lost to UD in the finals.

It's easy to forget how much easier it is to make playoffs now. It definitely took a way more elite season to get in back when it was 16 teams.

NC State would be a huge win, almost as big as taking down VT was.
Ranked #23 in polls, but #14 by Versus.

Versus predicts NC St: 32, JMU 18 if we played today. This game is not like playing EZU, and we will fight for every point.

The day we signed the EZU deal, I expect they would have been favored by a couple TD's as well, tomorrow is a new day and 9 months is a long time unless you are Alabama. We just need to kick'em in the nads. 03-nutkick

Saw some of the NC State/Clemson game. The QB and WR for NCS are a lot better than Richmonds and I thought UR's pair had a good game against us.

NC ST Quarterback Ryan Finley is a JR, as well as their top RB and WR. However it looks like 9 out of their starting 11 on Defense are Seniors. Ouch.

In fact, to further illustrate the reversal of their fortunes, just last year ECU beat NC State.

I coached R-FR NC State WR C J Riley in track & field at North Broward Prep. he is 6' 5" and ran an 11.2 100m as a junior (didn't run senior year). Tore his ACL summer after his senior year so had a medical redshirt. He is very fast and agile for a big guy. He played in a few games early this season (5 catches, 98 yards) and will most likely get a lot more playing time next season. He will be a tough one to cover.

Well, the opposing offense is the side you'd usually want to be "green" for the first game of the season, and we lose sever key players on defense, but maybe it'd be balanced out with a more mature O Line and CJ tearing it up at QB against a defense with lots of turnover. It'd be great if the game was a few weeks later but I think we'll be more competitive than the UNC game.

We lose a lot too, on offense and both lines, will need a lot of new guys to step up and fill big shoes quickly:

Bryan Schor, QB
Nick Edwards, OL
AJ Bolden, OL
Aaron Stinnie, OL
Terrence All’s, WR
John Miller, WR
Ismael Hyman, WR
Robbie Walker, WR
Jonathan Kloosterman, TE
Taylor Woods, RB
Cardon Johnson, RB (did he get medical RS?)
Matt Wolcott, LS

David Ezeagwu, DL
Simeyon Robinson, DL
Andrew Ankrah, DL
Cornell Urquhart, DL
Brandon Hereford, LB
Kyre Hawkins, LB
Brett Siegel LB
Pat Kagel, LB
Justin Bethea, CB
R Greene, S
Jordan Brown, S

You need to do a better job of force-feeding the purple kool aid down these guys' throats dude, or at least brushing up on your mind control technique.

Cardon's case is about as clearcut as you can get. Taking a academic redshirt as freshman. Then getting injured in Spring practice which denied him a chance to get on the field his second year on the team. Playing the full season his third year. His fourth season allowed him to play in 9 games before succumbing to an Achilles injury. Then his fifth season, this year, playing in three games before re-injuring the same Achilles.

I have no fear that he can get a medical wavier to allow another season, but I'm not sure that is the best thing for Cordon. His playing days may very well be over. I don't think they apply for a 6th season until after all eligibility has been used up. Pretty sure we didn't find out that Justin Thorpe was receiving another season until January or February. We then chose to not renew JT's scholly for a 6th season which allowed him to play elsewhere. We'll have to wait to see what happens from here with Cardon.

What a way to have your streak snapped too. They were blown out by UD in that 2003 title game.
