I think they didn't want a conference game because the possibility of Idaho or New Mexico State could have made it in their last year of the Sunbelt. No proof of it, just my opinion.

When the AAC has a spot in the CFP then I’ll reconsider but until then the access is equal and just because the AAC is having a single good year doesn’t equate greatness.

Single good year? Every year it has been doing better than CUSA, MWC, and Sunbelt.

although I wonder if this OP was just an attempt to start trouble (why smack in the cusa forum about the sunbelt, unless you're trolling?), I'll be glad to take the contrary position, to wit;


what good is a conference championship game? outside of the cfp seedings, which is the exclusive territory of the P5, they're not only meaningless, they're sometimes counterproductive. how many times has a program had a terrific regular season, gain a top 20 or even a top 10 ranking, get itself lined up on a major bowl bid, only to get it utterly wrecked by a team with a lesser record in a CCG? **** that.

in our conference's case, it stopped meaning anything when we lost the liberty bowl for our conference champion. now, it's exclusively used for bowl bids that are themselves really not much different from one another.

thus, CCG are illusions of substance that are irrelevant outside the sacred P5.

so, quit dumping on the sunbelt. aside from being amateurish and massively self-obsessed (see: the P6 identity crisis), it's just incorrect. the sunbelt is probably smarter than we are by blowing off that whole Matrix-like delusion.
