I was sitting down low at that game in Richmond and you are right, it was a thrilling game that could have gone either way. Neither team could stop the star of the other team (Rowe or Sessoms). I think Lefty was JMU's coach, right?

Yep, sort of the beginning of the end for him, though. There were some studs on both those mid-90s ODU and JMU teams. Odell Hodges, Petey, Rowe, Kent Culuko, Clayton Ritter...nobody in the CAA has that kind of talent nowadays.

That is so true. I would love to have another 4 years of Odell Hodge and Petey Sessoms playing for ODU as much as I am sure the JMU faithful would love having Rowe, Culuko, and Ritter once again.

Hodge was a 6'-9" man in the post who frequently had 20 - 30 point games. Petey was a strong but lean 6'-7" small forward that possessed as big of a will to win as any Monarch I have ever seen, and could score from anywhere on the floor. Led the CAA in scoring once or twice. Scored 35 I believe in ODU's triple overtime NCAA win over heavy Big East favorite Villanova.

I remember Rowe being a very confident forward that had a great ability to get his shot off and put it in the basket and was also a good defender and rebounder. Culuko was of course a good 3 point threat and the one that defeated ODU in the CAA title game with the last second shot. Ritter I remember as being a crafty C/PF that had a lot of low post moves. He had a way of getting his shot or getting a foul called against you. Very solid players!

Those were some great players and exciting times in the CAA between our two teams.

RE: ODU @ JMU Hoops
I see where tonight at halftime there will be a mascots game. Now, I know it is early in the season and all, but Duke Dog needs to play better defense. He's lazy. And, he needs to work on driving to the basket with his left. If I'm defending him, I'm overplaying his right side and forcing him to go left. Admittedly, I play out in the driveway against 7 year olds from the neighborhood. I block a lot of their shots and talk a lot of trash when I do it. Some claim I'm being too tough on them, but they need to learn not to bring that garbage into the lane unless they plan to do something with it. Plus, after a few face plants, it becomes quite a rush. My eyes are on you, tonight, Duke Dog. Show me something or get the hell off the court.

I've watched 5 minutes of men's hoops now... 5-2. Shooting not looking too good so far. I like the effort on defense.

Damn I have a slide show with Stretch. I thought we were past this crap. I just checked my download speed and it's 85Mbps so there's nothing I can really do. Has to be on their end.

They can't build the new building fast enough. There used to be bleachers behind the baskets at the convo, bringing the students close to the court. Then the risers, which sucked. Now, nothing. No atmosphere in that building at all.

30-23 ODU at half. We're taking a lot of outside shots and turning it over when we go inside. Also have an unusual amount of shots that have spun out. Not getting the shooters touch.

I'm waiting for the dribble drive that Rowe wants. The team has launched more threes than twos and most have been happenstance instead of designed 3 pt attempts.
Weird

This team has no players with any offensive skill set except McLean and Mosley.

In the interim, why can’t they put the bleachers or risers back? Too much fear that students might say an unkind word to the opposing team?

Just couldn't break through the 8-point-margin barrier. Now ODU is hot and we're not covering in transition. Doubled the margin in basically no time at all. Kept it close, but we're just not there yet.

I don't have a slide show, but my stream is very pixelated/blurry. I have 75Mbps service. Every-other stream works fine for me. I only have issues with Stretch.
