Every year Notre Dame is overrated. They win a few games and are deemed the team of the Midwest, and I hate the fact that they’re taking up space in the Tribune and Suntime every week when we have NIU and Northwestern kicking butt. What are the chances we can get them to put us on their schedule?Would love to have the opportunity to humble them like the many Big Ten teams we’ve humbled.

They wouldn't lower themselves to play us.

I laughed when I heard they got pummelled again. Best news I've had this weekend.

That and FSU lost again. They might not even make a bowl.

Notre Dame has been sneaking in some easy games the last few years. UMASS, Nevada, & Miami Ohio. I don't think they would have the "balls" to put us on their schedule but not out of the question.

They played the other Miami this year, have played WMU recently.

What's funny is on one side it's ND (or any major power) won't play what is seen by most as lower level teams such as the MAC, then when they do they get condemned as playing "the wrong one" or even at all on the national level.

I hardly think they are running away from NIU like UI is.

Strange enough, there are NIU fans (some on here) that believe NCS is too strong. Think there is no need for 4 games vs. some pretty good P5 teams (3 road games) next year.

Would be great to know if we tried to negotiate a game with ND while Jay Vickers was here. He had a connection there since he played for ND. I believe he had a lot to do with the Florida State game because he had connections there as well. Would be great to see a game against ND. Even a Soldier Field game would have been great as a home and home. I'm sure if they money is right for them ND would do it but they aren't hurting for cash.

I believe some of the comments of ND being afraid to play us come from a supposed comment Lou Holtz had made years ago. He said that they wouldn't agree to play us here because we were too tough at home. Not sure how reliable that comment is though I've heard it repeated for many years.

I am in Mexico now, and we get the Miami network TV stations here. Let me tell you, the Hurricanes are the kings of sports there. Big time coverage all the time. Much more coverage than the Dolphins. Miami loves the Canes. Wouldn't it be great if college sports were treated like this in Chicago?

98% of the South is this way. I imagine it has more to do with the fact most of the college teams preceded the major sports teams by 50+ years, so it has become ingrained in family life to support (favorite Southern college team).

The MLB NFL and NBA didn't arrive in Texas until the early 60s. And the actual South until the mid 60s.

It was't that way under Al Golden. Dolphins have continued to underperform. Dolphins started to lose the fan base once Marino retired. The Heat still have a pretty good fan base still. Panthers, Marlins-meh!
