FAU won’t get any votes in the “real” polls. Losing to Buffalo killed those hopes.

After reading this thread do ANY of you realize that the ESPN Power poll is as meaningful as the brilliant rankings that were posted on here preseason?

FAU is not a top 25 team. if a team controls the clock, and scores touchdowns against them. Any decent offense can beat FAU. See Navy game

Let me say this, Kiffin has turn FAU around to a decent Top 60 team

You may be right, but this is a sad commentary on our entire conference.

You are using the first game of a new head coach against a triple option team as a gauge? Really??? When the shoe is on the other foot and LA Tech is going through a season with similar performances and results in games, I'm pretty sure we'll see a different opinion from you.

Unlike the "real" polls, the ESPN power index appears to be more interested in picking who they believe to be the 25 best teams at the current time, not who has had the 25 best collective performances over the entire season.

Either way, no matter what poll you're looking at, CUSA doesn't have a Top 25 caliber team this year IMHO..

My only regret is UAB not winning the West and hosting Lane Kiffin and FAU 45 minutes from Tuscaloosa... we would sell 20k tickets to Bama fans alone to either heckle or cheer Kiffin.

Ok, the first few games of the year we were a different team as we added 37 players in the fall so we came out slow.
We were still rotating QB's working in new guys etc. I mean our center was still snapping balls over the head of QB's.

Also, people always talk about the yards yet we play D to force turnovers and never give up big plays. I saw some stat that we have only given up like 3-4 plays from the LOSover 50 yards this year.

Also FAU is playing like a top 25 team right now since conference play and no one can deny that I know it kills the old salty old teams of fan C-USA, but it's out conference now.

Having seen ODU play both VT and FAU this year, I was more impressed with FAU. Although they just fell out of the rankings, Virginia Tech is a Top 25 team in my opinion. Just one guy's opinion.

I agree, really weak this year with no good teams up top. More parity this year though with FAU and FIU being better.

It is all coaching. No players from what I saw are game changers and physically dominating.

FAU had two big plays for touchdowns, one trick play, where the receivers weren't covered at all. Plus the kick off return combined that with Tech's inability to score in the red zone (this has happen all year, every game not just FAU)

Nothing I saw from FAU would warrant a top 25 ranking but Kiffen has FAU playing well and quite the turn around

I agree. It is all Kiffin. Yes, Singletary is sensational and the OLine plays really well in front of him. But they were all playing the previous year as well (except for Reggie Bain who got the silly pre-season scooter injury that prevented him from suiting up last season)

That includes the freshmen who have contributed way more than the JUCO"s

Gilbert, Pierre, Willie Wright

You have to remember we will still figuring who could practice and can contribute at any level they were still doing stuff in week three of camp that schools get done in the spring.

Lane is qouted before the season we would be at our best by confrence play.

That game was never close I don't care how many garbage yards you racked up in between the 20 yard lines

YOu just named the three freshmen. Also Taleni is the one JuCo that contributes. Those are the three-four that contribute. The rest of the guys had been on the team since the last season.

And that is the most important point: Partridge couldn't do anything with these guys but Kiffin can.

Talini is a GT who didn't show up until week 2 of camp.

My whole point is people are uesing the first few weeks as a reason we are not a top 25 team, but this team has made huge steps in that time.

If we played Buffalo this week no doubt we would win by 30.

We could go 12-0 and beat the top 10 teams anf LA Tech fans would be saying we were not for real because they do not want to see another school pass them it has been happening to them in their entire history.
