RE: 50K Next Saturday - Sunny & 60
Come on Memphis get off yo ass, go buy a rain slicker and support this team, u may get wet so go home and shower up and move on getting wet ain't a big deal.
I went to the Colts bears super bowl in Miami and it rained most of the game, plus it was humid and I got wet but so did the rest of the sold out game.crowd.
Let's put 60K in the seats and show the P5 Memphis will support their team BIG TIME

Me, too, but I have lost 3 from my travel party - just like I did for the Tulane game. The weather is just not cooperating for having big crowds.

And they STILL have trouble averaging 40K per game. ULCA, SIU, and Navy were all over 40K. The last two, Tulane and Tulsa, had 17,989 and 17,383.

They are playing for the Western Division title on Saturday. The place should have 50K, but it won't. The ECU game will be lucky to have 30K.

This is the biggest reason we're not in the P5. If we don't put more butts in seats, this is the best we're ever going to have.

That, right there (in bold), is a perfect example of fake news.

Also, we played @ Tulsa.

Also, it was 40 degrees and raining prior to the Tulane game with occasional showers throughout. I was in attendance and didn't think those who chose not to attend are not "true fans", they were probably more intelligent than myself to not sit out in those conditions.

I was at the MTSU game a few years back and they had a rain delay that lasted over an hour. We had more people at that game than the Tulane game.

The worst part of the Tulane game was the cold temperatures. It actually didn't rain DURING the game. It was not cold for the MTSU game that you referenced. Still sux - I will be there, regardless.

If the forecast holds then we will be lucky to have 20k in the stands, this city simply will not do it. It doesn't matter if we were playing for a national championship, this town aint getting wet or cold and for sure not both!!! All those people will be the first to ***** when Norvell leaves

I'll bet you $100 that if the forecast holds we have more than 20k.

At the end of the day, even if we get a little wet, forecast is calling for 67 at kickoff. I'd rather it be 67 with a little drizzle than sit in 35 degree weather, which we'll have to do next week.

I've never seen a season like this, where it is literally beautiful all week, but then game day nasty and rain. And then beautiful for a full week after

PM me we'll talk about it. And I agree. Driving to work today I was thinking man...today would've been a perfect day for the game.

I think the crowd is going to be fine Saturday, even with the rain. We would have had 45-50K with a good forecast though. It really is amazing....the hourly forecast is only calling for decent chances of rain during the game.

RE: 50K THISSaturday - WEATHER SUX
Weather, we're still building the program (expectations=results drive behavior, behavior drives habits, leads to making games "an event"), and regardless of the implications - people don't get excited about SMU. All that still impacts people's willingness to show up.

Saturday: Very windy (20-30+ mph most the day). Few AM "no big deal" showers. Front moves through between ~11am-2pm with a line of rain, possible t'storm. Quick hitter, all gone before 3pm as of this writing. AM temps ~70. PM temps into the 50s.

We also get zero attendance bump from visiting fans. SMU will bring less than 50 fans to the game on Saturday.

Been that way every rain game this year. Only rainy during the game. Then clears out after the game.

Forecast is actually improving a little bit....now looking more windy with a quick rain band moving through sometime in the afternoon.

Would you bring your kid to get sick? No. If you are and Ole miss or ARK or Bama, or TENN or Miss ST fan would you sit in the rain for the Tigers? NO. ? If you are a young generation person and an old couple gave you tickets because they were too tired, would you go and sit in the rain in their place? NO.

There are all sorts of reasons why people won't come to a game because its raining. You say No excuse? those are just a few.
SO if it rains be happy with the 30000 die hards and let it ride.

If you are and Ole miss or ARK or Bama, or TENN or Miss ST fan... and you lived in Oxford, Tuscaloosa, Knoxville, or Starkville respectively, would you let the rain keep you from attending the game? History says no. That's our problem. We are not a P5 fan base yet. We have a long way to go.

You don't go from 20-25k to 45-50k overnight. It takes time....we keep winning over the next 5-7 years and it will happen.
