I'm not really thinking we stand a chance on Friday at Rupp, but have you actually seen how UK is having their own struggles right now? Youngest team ever there. If we still had the majority of last year's team, I would bet on them over UK by far. I completely expect Kansas to slaughter them tomorrow night. They were down by 12 at the half against Utah and only beat Vermont by 4.

Add in the fact that they will have played one game more than us in a week and we may not look as awful as we think. I'm sure I'm being overly optimistic still, but a girl can dream!

Vermont honestly should have beat them. They gave Purdue a game in the tournament last year.

I'm hoping after getting their asses beat by Kansas we get them while they are down.

Payne stepped up. He was fun to watch tonight. “No Payne, no gain!” says the raucous announcers.

I hope the ETSU sports youtube channel posts some highlights.

After Sav. St. hit those first 3 threes to make it 9-0, I was thinking that's a *very* bad sign because it made it likely that bartow was in the house. So that was either a false alarm, or Forbes had him escorted out during that time out he called.

Savannah St. played *16* players.

19 assists for ETSU was a rather dramatic turnaround from the NKU game.

Does anybody know the status of Obi-Rapu after he took himself out of the game?

So, the idea that Hodges could sometimes play the 4 was not only true, he at least once in his career has now played the 5 for a while. Astonishing. Shades of Tommy Hubbard.....

Timely, effective recognition by coaching staff that our normal (for now) lineup wasn't going to cut it against bizarre Tiger Tempo.
Bradford, as coach acknowledged in post game interview, is playing too passively.
Payne finally showed what I hoped he would bring this year.
McCloud and Williams pleasantly surprise with great energy and drive.
Hodges still working through Freshman orientation, but offers glimpses of hopefully great things to come.
Turnovers still a deep concern.

I'm hoping we did that just because of the pace of this game, if not then it's a reason to worry. We played mostly guards the whole night, Harrison and Jurkin didn't even play and Armus played limited minutes. And I know I asked this in the previous game thread but what is the status of Edwards? He didn't travel with the team either game.

RE: Official Game Thread: Savannah State (W 76-61)
Williams was interesting. Thoughts of redshirt gone as this team is getting reevaluated. His quickness and ballhandling work well against the Savannah small, quick guards and high tempo style. Maybe not quite so good against big Kentucky guards?? Best and most surprising is his 3 point shot: 5-8!! Shoot that way and he'll be an important part of this team. He was 12-41 for .293 on the season last year. Wish that Jermaine showed as much 3 point improvement. Down side: 0 assists.

Speaking of assists - you get a few more when the guys you toss the ball to are making their shots. 19 assists for the Bucs today compared to 3 (ugh) against UNK; explained partly by better shooting (36% and 11% from 3 against UNK versus 43% and 31% from 3 against Savannah).

Desonta hasn't got his 3 point shot going yet - but he was 3 for 13 in the early season last year. He'll find his groove.
