Frisco Bowl
Pardon me if there was another thread about this.

https://www.thefriscobowl.com/

Just saw the website for the Frisco and has the match of the AAC vs BYU/CUSA/MAC or MW.

I guess it is up to the Bowl execs on who the opposing side is going to be and have to wonder if they would select a CUSA team. I would like for this bowl to be a MW team and I have Wyoming or CSU penciled in as the opponent for the AAC.

RE: Frisco Bowl
Located near Dallas and with seating for only about 20K, Frisco will likely get Houston or SMU. That thimble sized stadium seems like a dumb choice for a bowl. At least its a modern facility and is not bench seating.

Since it should sell out with just the nearby AAC school fans and local sales, the opponent probably doesnt need to be a school thats going to sell a ton of tickets. I'd bring in a MW school. Not many MW fans are probably willing to travel that far for G5 bowl and Frisco doesnt need them to sell out the tiny stadium. Since tickets sales isnt the big concern---the key will be to create a good TV match up. A MW vs AAC would probably be the most interesting TV game available.

This is our worst bowl so it will probably include SDSU.

Actually, the MW does travel well to Dallas for bowls. We brought a bit of fans for the Armed Forces bowl.

My opinion, I don't mind the soccer stadiums. I think Frisco will expand the stadium to at least 25k. With many of these bowl games being made for TV, good smaller stadiums will have the fan experience more intimate and look good on TV.
This could open other possible locations, like LA Galaxy and Sacramento's upcoming stadium.
I wonder if the average ticket prices wil be $75 which still pulls in $1.5 million in revenue.

Not dogging the MW. Traveling for bowls always falls off as a function of distance. Just saying a distant MW opponent wouldnt be big issue for this bowl since it's likely to sell out with little trouble.

The bright side to this thang, AAC isn't married to this bowl.

I thought so too. But someone informed us when I questioned it in another thread that we apparently sold it to ESPN last year.

Was this the old Miami Bowl? I thought that was the signature bowl for the AAC.

The stadium is nice. Most of the new Major League Soccer stadiums are nice. Dallas is an easy flight and a hub city. The bowl game is a made-for-television event. I have no problems with this bowl game.

Nope. Sold the Miami Beach Bowl to ESPN, and they moved it to Frisco.

Edit: Should have read the whole thread before answering.
