Coming in on Johns Hill Rd from either side is the way to go. Also using 275 and the three mile exit works especially if you take the first right off the exit you’ll come up through the dorms and avoid Nunn drive. . Though that may be closed because of construction on campus. Basically just try to avoid nunn drive. I was therefor about 7 years and I don’t think i ever used it.

Look, I realize some things are more significant. I wish Sub was commenting on this thread. But they ran out of beer cups in line. Is there a bigger foul? I can't think of one.

Yeah. I'm not going to any less games, but need to find an alternate route.

I went to the exhibition game, and could tell concessions would be a big problem, but thought the place had ample restrooms.

But thanks for the real game traffic updates. Glad I decided to pass on tix this year. Just too much of a hassle on weeknight games coming down from Dayton. Ill pay stubhub for 2 games and get there a hour or so early.
Karen will think someone comped me tix again.

Food options on campus?

RE: Traffic To/From BB&T Arena
There are several ways in an out, and if you're exiting onto the main 27 entrance at 3pm on a friday with school in you're in trouble. Most of the games are night and weekends so i doubt that will be the case, but i think if you try some of the other exits you'll have a lot less wait. We went out the back way, and i don't know the names of the roads but headed down the hill and caught 275 down there by exit just before Taylor Mill. No wait at all.

That's 3 Mile road but you can only get on 275 west bound there. There are few alternatives since NKU is pretty land locked.

1) avoid Nunn Dr coming in/going out (google maps is your friend)
2) Dont park in the garage (the walk is not that much farther from the other lots)
3) Don't roll into NKU campus 15 min before game and expect to be in your seats for tip

Stayed for the whole Savannah game and was in Clifton for football pregaming by 2:35

I had never been down to NKU for a game so didn't know what to expect and got stuck in the traffic on the way in. Afterwards, though, we went out what I guess is the back way - Johns Mill Rd (Rt 2345), down to Licking Pike (Rt 9), right on Moock (Rt 1632) to 471 - and were back out in Anderson in no time.

Once you get out of the garage, that is how I went and it is pretty straight quick and easy (If I am ever running late, I'm going to come in that way too). I'm going to avoid the garage at all costs as it took 30 minutes Saturday.

I think the biggest issue Friday was school was in session and parking was hard to find. That shouldn't happen again so it should be better, but I'm still avoiding the garage. The surface lots are your friend and should make for quick and easy getaway.

Thank you for being the voice of reason. Of course this is the fanbase that historically rolls into Clifton a half hour before kickoff for sold out games at Nippert and complains about traffic and not being in seats until the second quarter.

We may need a special express/carpool lane.

What has 2 thumbs and will not be stuck in traffic in or out of the game tonight? This guy. I'll be there for tipoff, too.

RE: Traffic To/From BB&T Arena
A message from your athletic director.....

.

Hello, Bearcats Fans,
In an effort to assist you with your game day planning we would like to share with you some suggestions as we all learn more about attending games at NKU. We plan on providing additional updates as the season progresses.

We anticipate improvements for our game tonight against Western Carolina at 7 p.m. We are excited that so many of you have expressed satisfaction in the arena experience minus the parking and traffic challenges.

• TRAFFIC & PARKING ADVISORY - PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY
Fans looking to avoid heavier traffic should plan to arrive at least 45-60 minutes before game time (tip-off is 7 PM). Doors to BB&T Arena open 90 minutes prior to tip-off (5:30 PM).

Tips & Tricks for traffic flow & parking:
• Arrive 45-60 minutes prior to game time.
• Patrons with a Lot O parking pass should enter Martha Layne Collins Drive and access BB&T Arena from the back-side of campus. (See Entrance 2 on the map below)
• Fans traveling from Downtown, Northern Kentucky or the West Side of Cincinnati, we recommend taking 275 East to Exit 76 (Three Mile Road/Northern Kentucky University). Turn right off of the exit on University Drive and you will be directed onto campus from here. (See Entrance 3 on the map below)
• Several variables affect traffic conditions, including venue attendance, weather conditions, university business/class traffic and other campus events, which may warrant a change in traffic patterns from time-to-time. Police Officers are working to help us and this is a new experience for them. They are committed to getting fans to the closest available parking location.
• Coach Cronin’s post-game radio show will be played in the arena for fans who wish to enjoy the games recap live at the game site.
• The traffic lights at US 27 & Sunset will be managed by Police in an attempt to have more vehicles access 275 during each traffic light rotation.
We have been working directly with both BB&T Arena and NKU officials for months to ensure an enhanced game day experience for all fans attending Bearcats games. Please review the recommended points of entry below to determine your best route on to NKU's campus. We will continue to make adjustments as the season evolves.

Thank you for your loyal support of UC Basketball. We are all counting down the days to the renovated Fifth Third Arena and returning to Clifton.

Director of Athletics

Guess if there's enough outcry, they'll do something to address it.

Bravo to UC/NKU for the communication - and for figuring out a way for police to manage the intersections. That should go a long way.

My only complaint on this is the part about “please arrive early”. No. Folks are abandoning live sports in droves because they don’t have time to arrive early, watch 2.5 hour football games take 4 hours, and sit in garage traffic for hours. I’ll work around it, but most don’t care enough to. And it’s not just us, I see empty seats in many major games. Blaming the customer isn’t going to fill the stadium.

Normally my day is hair on fire, speeding home from cases, stuck in Cincinnati suddenly Boston traffic, and running over old people getting to the game. “Arriving early”simply isn’t an option.

You’re probably right! But I do wonder the future of live sports sometimes. Love being there, but I simply see more folks with other stuff to do.

You and I are hunters Rath. I see it there too unfortunately. Never enough time and having any artificial restrictions on it simply makes the next generation do it less.

RE: Traffic To/From BB&T Arena
I hear ya. I've chosen to not buy season tickets after a ton of years of doing so. For all sports. It allows me to pick and choose what games interest me and/or which ones fit my schedule. I'm past the point of having to stress out about scheduling games around my life.

My guess is I will make it to about half of the 16 home games. The rest I will lounge on the couch with my mutts.

Life is too short. If it's stressful to get there or make it fit in to the rest of my life (or its just plain hard to watch ala football) I cross that one off the list that week. Easy peasy.

To be fair, he's not telling you that you have to get there that early, it says if you want to avoid heavier traffic, that is a better option.

I will be coming from the Eastside for games. If I can't make it to Barleycorns before a game, I will go down the the AA and take that way in, or I will get off at the AA, get back on, and then proceed to the 3 Mile Road exit.

Taking 471S is a pain in the ass when there isn't an event at BB&T, for the record.

I anticipated entrance stress, but only found that US 27/Alexandria Pike was slowed, but moving as we approached Nunn Drive around 6:10. The police were out in force, and we moved quickly to parking. There was no shortage of hand flares and all parkers,,well parked.
Post game egress was fantastic. Nunn Drive moved fast, and we were out of the garage and off campus in 4 minutes.

Don't stay home fearing the parking. Mutts can entertain themselves.

We purposefully got there about an hour and 20 minutes before tipoff and stopped for a couple beers at skyline after parking in the lot. 471 was a mess but I mostly avoided it and took some backgrounds in to campus. Wasn't too bad. Getting out was easy

Also...concession lines are slow... they clearly are not used to this kind of crowd (though the beer venders helped last night)... However, concessions there are really good. Pretzel looked excellent, though I didnt have it. The Burger was probably the best sporting event burger I've ever had.
