The relationship with the past administration was horrible, to use a nice word. I would say ‘horrible’ is putting it mildly. You know what happened. Many of you were there, and you never got to land. The plane came close but it didn’t land.
“And now we have a very, very strong relationship with the Philippines, which is really important…. So we’ve accomplished a lot.”
This is an intentional misrepresentation of what occurred, the plane did not swoop in close, and was turned away. Obama saw the rampant human rights abuses Duterte supports, spoke out, and refused to see him. It's a totally different story, and his recollection of it is patently disingenuous.
Now that being said, I'll gladly meet you guys halfway and be fair. This statement is not as blatant as his absurd lies about Obama wiretapping, Obama birth certificate, victory crowd size, relative presidential victory statistics, voter fraud, his stance on the Iraq war, the amount of times he's been on the cover of Time magazine, his generals stance on transsexual individuals in the military, the actual vetting procedures we put immigrants through, how the unemployment figures work, whether or not WaPo or the NYT apologized to him for their coverage, his graduation ranking, the cause of protesting at airports, his approval ratings, the murder rate in the US, his connection to wikileaks, his administrations knowledge of Flynns transgressions, his administrations connections to Russia, the amount of money he saved on the jet deal, his connections to Manafort, his connections to Bannon, the cost of a border wall, and the veracity of claims that Clinton should be locked up.
Still though, I think we're doing a disservice to the role of POTUS for us to excuse his lazy and dishonest reinterpretation of what actually occurred simply because he's told worse, more explicitly false, lies.
