The 69 is a great investment. I went to the Mecum Auction in Louisville last month. Highly optioned 69's were selling in the low to mid 80's. They were priced in the 60's not that long ago. Way better return and much more fun than the stock market.

The 71's have also skyrocket in value as well. The right car bought at the right price is an excellent way to have fun and make great $.

Mecum and Barret Jackson auctions have been both good and bad for muscle cars and collectible cars in general. Average novice folks with decent cars think because they saw a car similar to theirs sell for big money, they now think theirs is worth that or something close. Usually they are not. High end cars are usually original pieces or have undergone big money restorations, thus making them extremely expensive and desirable. It's amazing to see how overpriced some have become.

This particular 69 z28 has the matching number drivetrain, original panels (other than the plastic grill and surround), original paint, zero rust and 54k original miles.

No doubt those 2 auctions have been a blessing for some and a curse for others. There was some unbelievable buys in Louisville. Some cars sold for way less that I thought they were worth. On the other hand, there was plenty of solid offers on cars with reserves that were not met. I believe 2 fools met on some of those cars. 1 was the person offering too much and 2nd was the person that turned them down.

I am Phoenix this weekend and had to drive by the Barrett Jackson location just to see it in person.

I live 2 miles away from West World in Scottsdale, Barrett Jackson is a lot of fun but you definitely pay a premium at the auctions. They aren't for people who are looking for a good deal, that's for sure.

Mine had a 402 with a Muncie rock crusher. Ran like a striped ape. Sold for $2350 in 1984. 03-hissyfit03-banghead
