CNBC Reported Today that Disney is Angling to Purchase 21st Century FOX
They are seeking production studios and are not looking to purchase FOX's television network or Sports broadcasting as those might be construed as an anti trust issue. They are looking for production studios in preparation for their future streaming endeavors since leaving Netflix. Still this would position them quite well for total programming purposes.

Now we know why Disney was trying to sell ABC recently.

That's one way to get the Marvel rights back.

Now that no one is buying DVD's or CD's anymore, studios can directly sell or rent their content or offer it as part of a streaming service.

I read Fox owns the physical distribution rights to Star Wars 1-6 until 2020.

Note: Fox and Disney already own large shares of streaming service Hulu.

Would they need more sports inventory to support additional channels?
Is the Big 12 saved?

or

ESPN was looking into dropping Monday night football. Does all of the pro content move to FOX and all of the collegiate move to ESPN (the Big 12 is doomed).

The most positive thing would be; FOX hiring an announcer other than Joe Buck.

Sports content would have to be live. And accessible. Access to the major channels, ESPN 1 2 U News, Fox Sports 1 2, CBS SportsNetwork, NBC Sports Network is the starter. Then...if you add the Bein Sports Channels, SECN, BTN, ACCN, and other channels in this class, you've captured the national college sports and soccer markets.

Another Teir of service would be offering all the local NBC/Fox/Root Sports like Networks

And of course the money maker full season packages from MLB, NBA, NHL, MLS and other leagues. (NFL regular season most likely remains a DIRECTV property unfortunately).

Tons of channels and content for a separate sports only/mostly service.

HULU will die a slow death as know one watches.

The deal wouldn't include the sports networks although the article did say NatGeo and FX might change hands.

FOX would still have control over their sports and news divisions.
