No, the mandate that Obama lied about. The one he said was a penalty, before he told the SC it was a tax.

The tax bill that will never pass the Senate you mean?

Wouldn't be a surprise really...it's the only way Republicans know how to govern because their ideas just can't stand on their own.

I thought I read where they're also trying to sneak in some abortion nonsense into this as well.

Throughout the article:

Quote: some Republicans

and we have this:

Quote:The fact that many prominent Republicans and conservatives supported the mandate does not, by any stretch, mean that conservatives did as a whole.

You forgot Newt Gingrich and the Heritage foundation a conservatives think tank.

Admit it. The individual mandate was a republican idea for healthcare and they were for it until Obama agreed with them.

Maybe a Republican idea, but not a conservative one, and certainly not a Libertarian one.

Just because soemthing is from the GOP doesn't mean GOP voters support it

This is the crucial difference between GOP voters and Democrats. The former will tell the party when they are being dumb while the latter will be singing Katy Perry while wearing #imwithher stickers

They were never "for" it. What they said is if you are going to cover preexisting conditions, then you'll need to have a mandate or the program it will collapse financially. Thats just common sense. So, the Democrats, with all the votes needed to pass, created a mandate that wasnt a mandate that was a tax that was a penalty. Thats why Obamacare was doomed from the very beginning. Sheer common sense says you cant sell fire insurance if you can buy it after the house catches on fire. They passed a mandate that wasnt really a mandate.
