College Football Imperialism Map
I've followed this through the year, and it is has no actual value but still entertaining nonetheless. I am in no way connected with the maker of this map, but I just thought it was interesting. Whoever makes the map updates it each Monday after the weekends games.

At the beginning of the year, every FBS team owned the counties closest to it, and as the season has gone along whenever someone owning a territory has lost, it goes to the winner. It has consolidated to this point down to only 23 teams owning territory. If you follow the link there is also a GIF of the overall season as it has progressed.

Two weeks ago we got some territory back with our win over USM.

i saw someone on the Rice board post this...they were excited about the possibility of winning back some territory this past weekend.
as you said, its completely and totally worthless, and i still find myself fascinated by it

(Wisconsin--or possibly Iowa, but I doubt it--will have a ton of territory next week)

You have to go back through the history of it to see. It started with us, but then Ball State took it after the win. They then lost to WKU, who lost to FAU, so FAU is the current owner.

This is the coolest thing to come out of /r/cfb in a while, and that's saying something.

If any of you folks reading this are reddit savvy, we could really use more help on the Trivia Tuesday event. As of writing, UAB only has three total contributors (up from 2 last year, where we made the playoffs...)
