RE: MBB Game 1: High Point
I'll say Cohn-Milon-Pierce-Rowley-Knight.

High Point looks like our carbon copy this year. Picked to struggle in their conference but have a ton of weapons around the perimeter. I'd love to see Knight press his advantage inside with a big game.

Vegas has this game as even. Pretty sure we win this game at Kaplan or a neutral site, but less confident with it being at HPU. Still think we start the season in the win column though.

I know I'm echoing what others have said, but if Knight can stay out of foul trouble he will be special I believe.

These early games, IMO, are critical to establishing him. So - 100% with you, I'd like to see early and often taking advantage of mismatches with him.

RE: MBB Game 1: High Point
We will be starting a very young team. Cohn is the only returning starter from last year. Knight and Pierce got good minutes (especially Knight) last year but did not have to carry the load of "starting". Milon and whoever else starts have limited experience.

The High Point gym is tiny and loud, unless they've experienced a dramatic downturn in fan enthusiasm. I don't know if they still apply full-court pressure or not.

I don't want to sound unduly pessimistic but anything can happen on the road with a young team. It would almost be easier to play a "better"team in an empty cavernous arena (Liberty comes to mind).

A win would be great, regardless of how much we get out of Knight. A loss is no disaster, even if it is a blowout.

Good health for this team, and patience for its fans, should be the mantra for the season.

Kind of sets the expectation right out of the blocks for how this team chooses to perform on the road this season, and if they know how hard they have to play to win on the road, regardless of the opponent. Hopefully, new team, new chemistry, and a hungry group.

RE: MBB Game 1: High Point
HPU lost some key people as well. Picked to finish 6th in the Big South, they do have 4 starters returning, but also 5 newcomers. They will be searching for chemistry, much like we will.

They are not very tall. They have a 6'10" transfer, who will be eligible, but everyone else is 6'7" and shorter, so it should be an even game on the boards. Junior guard Andre Fox is the top returning scorer, at 12.7 ppg.

Let's get the season started on a solid note.

Let's not discount the extra experience gained from playing together in Jamaica. I believe that the experience will cause an earlier chemistry than usual.

Is their head coach the same as they've had last few years? The guy from Mason?

He seems like a very good coach. I know many Mason fans wanted him instead of Hewitt.
