really smart (and probably Houston's idea) to announce the extension just hours after the press conference. it doesn't flood the presser with a bunch of questions about it, keeps it strictly about the game. very smart move.

How were these texts uncovered? Is there pending legal action?

Tennessee tried to fire Currie for cause and it recently went to a legal settlement. I'm guessing that was a UT issued phone and not a personal, or just part of the discovery process.

Currie settled for $2.5 million.

It pays to be a bad AD.

And I thought Hammy and the Heartless Dave were bad ADs!!!!!!! Well, they were. Hammy was incompetent, but at least he cared about Tennessee. Heartless Dave wasn't incompetent, but he was basically venal and evil. Currie was flat out INCOMPETENT and a blithering idiot! I'm glad Fulmer fired his azz! He came close to ruining the place!!!!

So how did that AD get hired in the first place? Who among the UT big shots was pushing for him? You don't get that kind of position w/o a little inside support.

At UT, no AD gets hired without Larry Pratt's approval.

I indirectly know Larry via work...

So that begs the question...How much input does a guy like Larry Pratt get in the future, after such a bad hire?

Who the hell is Larry Pratt? Never heard of the guy, even when my dad was on the athletic board. The Haslams are the big donors.

Oh, HIM. Meh. He still doesn't wield nearly as much power as the Haslams. Don't kid yourself. And if he was responsible for hiring either Hammy, Heartless Dave, and/or Currie, his stock will have gone down considerably!
