Incredible Turnaround
I have attended just about every Tiger home football game in the sun/rain/sleet/snow since the early to mid 50's at old Crump Stadium when I was a kid and watched some really outstanding performances, some absolutely horrendous ones, and yes, some really heartbreaking ones, e.g. Cincinnati 4th and 27. To think where we were just a few years ago until Fuente came in and started to turn the program around and now Norvell has taken us to a higher level is an amazing feat.
No matter what happens next year with Norvell this year has been an exciting ride and I don't want it to stop. GO TIGERS!

Incredible Turnaround
Great post. I have only been a season ticket holder since the early 1990's but I feel the same way. It is incredible that our Tiger squad has reached the current level of success. I remember all the bad stuff that I have witnessed, and it makes me want to pinch myself to be sure I'm not dreaming.

As RC used to say "What a great time to be a Tiger".

RE: Incredible Turnaround
I still have nightmares over 4th and 27

It was probably Coach Speak but Coach West said in the grand scheme that loss gave the team and staff a ton of motivation for the following season. Said 2003 success had a lot to do with that painful loss

And I, too, attended games as a child at CRUMP! I used to sell cokes, in the wooden cases, heavy stuff. BUT, I had an older brother in SigEp and would take my cokes to them, sell them, and go get another case.

I have held season tickets since 1974, football and basketball. GTG!

RE: Incredible Turnaround
Amazing when the university admin & the major business folks in the Memphis area FINALLY see the benefits to the university & the Memphis metro area by having a strong FB program, what can be done - the success had. Can only wish personally that this had happened 30-40 yrs ago, no telling how strong our university & FB program would be now. But we can continue to have success & grow the program if more & more Memphis area folks & grads (wherever they are) continue to support the university. If so, we can retain smart leadership & perpetuate the university growth & success.

RE: Incredible Turnaround
I graduated from Memphis in 1989 and have attended games since I was a kid. I remember the occasional high point of a W over Alabama, USC, Florida, and that 1 magical victory over Tennessee. I also remember going to games during the Porter era and watching us get drilled by SMU with (maybe) 5K fans in the stands. It is extremely gratifying to see the job that Fuente and Norvell have done in making this football program a success.

I moved to Northwest Arkansas in the summer of 2016 and proudly wear my blue and gray in the middle of all these Razorback lunatics. I LOVE being able to point to our top 20 ranking while the Hogs struggle to beat something called the Chanticleers.

Selling cokes at Crump is how I started going to games. You are right those wooden cases were heavy and those looped metal cases would cause my forearm to swell because they weren't much lighter. Making a $5 profit selling cokes was a lot of money for a 9-10 year old kid back in those days. You only made a $.02 profit for each coke, so you had to sell a lot of cokes and receive a few tips to make any money. My kids and grandkids could not comprehend doing that today. Oh the nostalgia.
I have held season tickets since 1974 also, but was going to practically every game before then.
