Man, I guess I'm not a leftist because I certainly care for more than just my agenda and I'm still waiting on any Soros check. As is every leftist I know. I think it's an ugly part of humanity to act so callous to others in their grief. I understand why they are questioning the efficacy of prayer since it would be post hoc and would not have helped to prevent the tragedy. It goes to the "Problem of Evil" and the different conclusions people draw from thinking about the issue. In the end though, people are different and prayer is a source of comfort for some. There is no reason to ridicule that IMHO.

Vonnegut is one of my favorite authors.

To paraphrase, he didn't believe in religion but he did not want to live in a world where there was no sermon on the mount. Words of wisdom from a lifelong agnostic.
