One thing I’d like to hear more about in the offseason is the sports medicine partnership idea Coach Clark has. It could really put UAB (and UAB Medicine) in the spotlight and is a natural fit for our program. Maybe the Great Pumpkin would love to study the neurological implications of the game.

Or maybe he’ll just go hang out in Park Slope and fap to our comments as one of the highest paid university presidents.

RE: UAB Needs to Pay Bill Clark Now Before They Get Burned
There are three reasons that we still have a program, and that it is trending in the right direction. The Vocal Few refused to sit still for the program being knifed, and kept the issue alive until the calvary arrived. Bill Clark's hire, the job he did in 2014 to give the fans hope along with his decision not to take another job, waiting to see if he could build UAB to the potential he saw, was crucial. Then the Football Foundation got going, stepped into the breach, and made a huge difference both financially and by getting the leaders of the Birmingham business sector on board.

Without any of the three, I'm home today doing chores, because I damn sure wouldn't have been watching college football.

My sincere thanks to everyone who made this day happen. Clark might not be as good as we hope (although I think he is), but at this point the program has a solid chance to thrive and grow. I don't think I ever could have said that honestly before today. I know bad things can still happen, but this is the first time since I began to follow the team that things felt stable.

Today is a particularly fine day to be a Blazer. All we need to do is to beat Rice to turn it into a full bore Bowl Party!

I'd love to hear an update on this too. It's a fantastic idea that would really differentiate us athletically and academically. Would also be a nice boost to the Bham economy.
