They look I believe at whose ranked higher. I would assume we’d be ranked higher..

By all accounts, yes.
The AAC title game host is determined (tie break wise) by the team with the higher CFP ranking going into the final weekend.
Assuming Memphis wins out and the same for USF, it would be difficult to imagina a scenario in which USF jumps Memphis in the next two CFP rankings.
USF has a bye this week, too, so it's practically impossible for them to jump Memphis after only one game being played.
