Ucf recently won the Fiesta Bowl and if we win out will be in another major bowl. 60 million+ athletic budget and doubles northern TX attendance.

Banowsky always treated the league as a steppingstone conference and imo never worked to create a conference in which teams could both grow work together to build a unique brand.
Terry Holland became very concerned that the conference had lost its mojo and worked tirelessly to get ECU to the Big East. You really can’t fault the AAC for trying not to follow in Cusa mistakes.
Cusa needs week night games to rebuild the brand. Judy needs to tell ESPN the conference will take Tuesday and Wed every week during football season and any Thursday or Friday games they can get. At this point who cares about Sat games, attendance is bad anyway. Take a bigger paycheck and the exposure. Rebuild the brand. If not Cusa could actually become first conf to have no tv money at all. I actually think Cusa is a great brand and could be rebuilt and be strong again. IMO, It has better brand power than Sun Belt and the Mac. Judy and the presidents need to do a much better job at leveraging the Cusa name.
I seriously doubt the C-USA contracts are going to improve for 2018. The conference has done nothing to advance it's standing. I know that the AAC fans believe their next contract will be enhanced while most MWC fans seem to believe they might get a bit of a haircut. Those 2 conference contracts will be interesting to follow. I believe both are up after the 2019 season.
I believe the mwc has already been offered the same money to renew. All the tv contracts have been going up assuming the membership stays the same.

Good for ucf. Your'e still directional and still a G5, same as UNT and our CUSA brethren.

Until they get an automatic New Year's Day 6 invitation or land a team in the playoffs, they're just a marginally better G5 conference. Watching the ECU @ Houston game with home attendance like that by Houston the American is clearly NOT at the level of P5 conferences.

y'all...it's marketing, and it's also pretty effective.
I've seen threads like this on the MWC, CUSA, Belt, and MAC board.
the SEC TV contract pays out like 35 million per team while the AAC TV contract pays out 2 million per team...THAT is why the AAC is not a power conference....that said, you're still sitting around talking about the AAC...and that's the point of the 'P6' thing.
good luck!

Check out KSU at Texas Tech today--plenty of major schools draw flies. Don't conflate games like Michigan v. Ohio State or Alabama v. Auburn with the majority of major conference games.

people don't seem to understand the purpose behind realignment -- and the playoff, for that matter, which was basically soma to the masses. it obviously isn't a process of inclusion, and it isn't designed to do anything other than enforce the status quo, and shrink the circle of the chosen few. ask not for whom the bell tolls, AAC.
boise state's rather sudden rise to national prominence years ago jarred the powers that be. that **** won't be allowed to happen ever again. there would be too many mouths to feed.

Texas Tech is struggling at 4 - 5, Houston at 6 - 3 still has a shot at AAC division there's a difference.

And everyone in the ACC, Big 12, Big 10, PAC 10 and SEC are laughing at you.
None of you are ever going to get into their party, and you are all in denial.
You're just like us, you will never be their peer.
Perception is that South Florida, Memphis and UCF are all good football programs right now. The silliness comes from the fact the entire crap conference is elevated simply from that.
The AAC though has enough good teams to always have 3 ranked. When the team you mention hit down periods, ECU, Cincinnati, UConn and Navy can take the lead. Sports writers knowthis and see the conference as strong.
Name me a time when the American has EVER finished a season with three top 25 teams?
Not sure it’s happened where all 3 finish ranked just mean 3 can be rankecat same time. The 3 teams you mentioned are not only AAC teams that have been ranked,Ecu, Navy, Houston and Cincy have been ranked in AAC so lots to potential from the majority of the AAC.
The American is a good conference, no one is disputing that.
We are all laughing at you though with this marketing campaign. You should realize that everyone is laughing at you, not saying subliminally "yeah, that American conference is right, they are a power conference!"
The sooner you all realize this the better. Your programs are good and have respect without the dumb ass campaign.
Personally, I think it’s kinda ingenious. Basically, all it’s saying is “Instead of thinking of us as the part of the bottom five, think of us as part of the top six”. Either way, it’s still the 6th best conference. One simply sounds way better than the other. Bottom line—It’s just marketing. Nobody really thinks the AAC is going to be officially invited to the adult table.
The closest thing I can think of in advertising is the pork campaign. Pork producers wanted to improve thier poor image as an unhealthy food—so they started marketing pork as “the other white meat” to more closely associate pork with chicken—widely considered a more heart healthy choice. It actually worked.

Yea, that's like a Boston College fan telling an Ohio State fan congrats, you are still a P5 and we are on equal footing. It must be nice living in your tulip of a world lol.

However, it is funny that these threads complaining about the P6 NEVER come up on other boards outside of G4 fanboy boards. Never seen this come up anywhere else. Not on any of the SEC or gator boards. Rarely ever on the realignment board. It's always on the MWC and CUSA boards. Kind of cute.

Go to the P5 Boards and see what kind of reaction you get. P6 is not in their consciousness.

This is exactly what it is. I don't understand why other conferences don't see it. This marketing of P6 is doing exactly what it suppose to do. Make people talk, whether its positive or negative. We all know we are "technically" G5 but the first step to change is to bring awareness to it. And from the look of this post and other posts and articles on the internet, it is very effective.

No we're talking about G5 and laughing at the AACs P6 campaign. You've gotten CUSA's message board's attention, does that make your campaign a success? Well then congrats! We'd likely be talking about the AAC anyway so I don't know if you're really gaining much ground.
