Why call him a piece of ****?

Sometimes he had a brusque personality but other than that, and that ain't much, he is one of the bigger living ambassadors for college football and did a ton for the game.

Him tweaking Tennessee twenty years ago still gets to people?

RE: It Appears That Florida Fans Will Be Watching
I think the big boosters and fans at FL and UT-K think they can do better than hiring a coach with two years of experience at a G-5 school and the AD has to appease them. Honestly, it would be smart for UT-K to hire Norvell, but I am do not think their AD has the guts to do it.

Arkansas, IMO, is the greatest known threat to hire Norvell. They have been humbled, are desperate, and are ready to take a chance.

Agree with the above that the bigger of the big schools, like a Florida, may not quite be ready to take a chance on NOrvell. Which means the littler of the big schools, like a Mississippi, might be.

Norvell however, needs to wait for the bigger of the big schools, or if taking a job a notch below, making sure it is a much better situation and environment than Oxford or Knoxville.

My advice.

don't care what ESPN talking heads say, Florida wants a coach who plays fast, can score and can recruit.they are not looking for a retred. I still say its between Norvell & Frost.

RE: It Appears That Florida Fans Will Be Watching
I should be more worried about Arkansas but I'm not. First, Norvell turned down opportunities when he was at Arizona State, so I do believe him when he says that the right fit is more important than money. Second, Arkansas can't win big in the SEC. All things being equal, just in the division, Alabama, LSU, Auburn and TAM are better jobs. Arkansas has only ended the season ranked 3 times in the last 18 seasons and haven't managed it in 5 seasons. Last but not least, the program is a **** show from the AD to the coaches to the players not being able to stay out of trouble no matter who the coach is.

The one job that stands out above the others by far is TAM. They draw 95,000 plus fans, they are in the easier division, and you can obviously recruit Texas and SEC territory. With the Big 12 trending down, there is no better time to walk in and make an impact. Also, compared to the rest of the SEC, their AD and fans are much more tolerant.

Again, Arkansas has only ended the season ranked 3 times since 1999. The next best job for Norvell is Florida, for many of the same reasons that TAM is attractive.

The last time I looked, aTm is in the west, with Bama, LSU, and AU to contend with yearly - not exactly "the easier division". The eastern side has been the cupcake side for a few years.

While it's never fun to lose quality leadership, given the lowly place where our program hovered just a few short years ago, I actually enjoy knowing our football coaches are being considered for solid P5 jobs.

We now have two guys in a row who have/will quickly move on to better opportunities; our program's developing reputation as a hotbed for up and coming coaching talent will only serve to help us successfully reload again and again.

You may be right: Sumlin may have lost his job today with that bungle right before half on the blocked punt.

He walked out and quit on his players at South Carolina.

Risky to have to keep reloading because 1 bad hire and we would be set back to bottom of the barrel again, and it could set us back for years or forever.. I know it’s something we are going to have to deal with but eventually that 1 bad hire will more than likely happen!!

The last three coaches have been able to find talent. I'm confident that Bowen has a handle on the coaching pipeline.
