RE: Denver
I would love to win a national title in hockey but the fact is that the Cotton Bowl run brought vastly more attention and revenue than anything we could do in hockey. That doesn't make anybody's hockey fanhood less legitimate, its just the truth.

You won't find anyone arguing the opposite.

RE: Denver
Just saw that we are now ranked #18 in the USCHO poll. Interesting to see that Notre Dame is #6. I guess having a big name doesn't hurt. We both have 3 losses. ND lost to and tied Denver, split with UNO, and lost at home to Sacred Heart. I know it's early in the season and more wins will adjust this.
Denver is a good team and I'm sure they will learn from their sweep in Kalamazoo. I'm rooting for them to sweep St Cloud and continue to win so we keep racking up valuable Pairwise points. That's a big benefit for being in the NCHC.

Probably not, but it's still relevant to point out when you have people arguing to drop to FCS in favor of sports like hockey.

Instead of us celebrating our win the conversation has turned to this program is greater than this one and that one is greater than this one so on and so forth. If soccer wins great for WMU if tennis wins great for WMU if football wins great for WMU if hockey wins great for WMU , not football lost so who cares what anybody else does. That,s a looser attitude
This nails it.
Should have ignored the trolling negative comment in the first place. Instead a thread about sweeping the #1 team in the nation and defending national champion got hijacked.

Focus on sports where you get that fair shake.
MAC schools may drop football, if the trend in concussion-injury diagnosis continues. How would a school like Western handle potential litigation from players? We don't have the resources to do that.
We may be at the limit to what technology can do to reduce injuries-especially concussions-in football. Head injuries aside, somebody noted in another threat how we have 15 players done for the season due to injuries.
Players are getting bigger, faster and they hit a lot harder today than ever before. We may soon be to the point where colleges look at the cost of injuries/potential litigation and conclude American Football is not something they can afford to fund.
Say what you will, but you don't see that level of injuries in other, far less costly sports.

I grew up playing both football and hockey. Got KOed several times in hockey. Never in football. I'm sure that has something to do with luck, but trust me, there is nothing like making the mistake of putting your head down to find the puck and getting checked at full speed. In hockey the big hits include full head and body. I never was a receiver in football, so I never had one of those open field kind of hits, but everyone gets the crushing blows from time to time in hockey.
I think football is here to stay, and people will just accept the head injuries; although certainly it is a big problem. It's just so damned popular at every level that I don't think it will be eliminated. There are a lot of brutal sports, and so many leave the head as a target. Think about boxing. Yikes.

Great hockey games! MAC football does not interest me. Why is it coming up here?
I related news, more people eat hamburger than prime rib.

RE: Denver
On all of the Bronco sports forums we occasionally discus other sports as they may relate to the topic. In this case there is some contrasting between football and hockey, and comparing interest in the respective sports, particularly in light of the big hockey wins this weekend. Dont see whats wrong with that. We compare sports all the time, and many of the hardcore hockey fans have done this many times. This is more a personality conflict than a forum subject violation.

Personally I have family that played for Bronco athletics so the passion for all Bronco athletic teams is there by default (though much of my family only cares about his sport: Bronco football)

I have no issue if you like some sports better than other one,s that is perfectly fine. I also reconize that football is number one and i have no problem with that ,i personally love football . I just do not like the fact that some WMU supporter would come on another sports blog page and say who cares if you beat the #1 team in the country in the highest division of that sport. That,s a cheap shot
