No. He plays for mtsu...

ok, just searched the board, seems like there was chatter about him coming back home, but MTSU it is.

He was homesick. But there was something about a helicopter family member.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Auburn announced Thursday morning that it will hold out sophomore basketball players Danjel Purifoy and Austin Wiley to start the season to "avoid any potential eligibility issues,” as the Tigers are tied to an ongoing FBI investigation on the corruption in college basketball.

Alabama is also tied to the FBI investigation as former staffer Kobie Baker resigned from his position of associate athletics director in September after Alabama held an internal review of the men’s basketball program.

Later Thursday, Alabama basketball head coach Avery Johnson was asked whether or not all his players were eligible to start the season. The head coach replied with a rather vague response.

“We’re moving forward with the roster that we have, and that’s all I’ll say about that,” Johnson said. “I’m not going to comment on another school, but our team we’re moving forward with the roster that we have.”...

Didn't sound vague to me. AL is playing who they have on the roster.

Time after time you outdo yourself. Hard to believe, but true.

I highly doubt anyone on this board is rooting for the Tigers to lose just to prove some point.
Maybe you’re right.

I highly doubt certain posters will admit they were wrong if they turn out to be wrong.

I'll wait until March to find out. You with me?

You make a good point. What I do know is we have some talent on this team. And if one likes Tiger basketball, I’d encourage that person to go watch em. They will find out we’re actually fun to watch.

We weren't fun to watch at all last year, but that's how we had to play. We should be much more fun this year.

Avery's biggest recruit ever, and Bama's biggest recruit in decades. A PG, kind of like Obina Eze for us, shot up the rankings late, so the big schools didn't have a lead. Avery recruited him hard, and sold his NBA PG experience would help Sexton get to the NBA in one year, beat out Kansas and NC State.

Avery has not been as confident in the past re commenting on Sexton's eligibility. From 3 weeks ago: “We don’t have any eligibility concerns at the moment unless somebody notifies us in the future about something,” Johnson said. “But right now all of our players are eligible to play.” https://www.seccountry.com/alabama/avery...lin-sexton

Alabama's Collin Sexton has not had his eligibility reinstated by the NCAA, per release. Will not play in tonight's exhibition.

As it should be, looks like Collin Sexton is unlikely to play vs. Memphis this week unless the NCAA rules in the next few days.

And how is what Avery Johnson has been saying not a lie? Doubt the Bama beat reporters will call him out on it, but according to Rothstein Sexton eligibility has been on hold the whole tie Avery was tap dancing around the issue.

Saw that. While probable Sexton does not get cleared anytime soon, Roser's claim is not what the CBS Sports article said. All it said was that Sexton would be held out of tonight's Bama exhibition game.

Alabama beat Huntsville by 9. 74-65.

I think they were down Sexton and another starter. It looks like everyone else played a full game.

I know it ain't Queensberry to kick someone when they're down, but . . . it's Alabama, after all.

Yeah, they played their starters. Their best player from last year is injured. Key.

Huntsville is a D2 team.

In a way, that's too bad. Bama won't being playing their 5* guard AND their leading returning scorer (6'8 F Braxton Key) tore his meniscus and is out.

They will be a shell of the team we were expecting to see.

No excuse not to get the "w" but the "w" just won't mean as much.

Bama must be feeling what we felt about our defense after the ULM game.

I will gladly take the win rather then a strong L. Here is hoping that Colin gets reinstated after the Memphis game and Braxton gets healthy soon AFTER our game giving AL a strong finish and Memphis a good win for the season.

It won't matter in the end. A win is a win. Nobody, meaning media and poll voters, cares if you are missing players or not.

Given Bama’s roster depletion, we should win much in the same way we beat SC last year without their leading scorer. It would be a great start to the season.

True or not?

I would hope you would acknowledge Bama without their 5* and their leading returning scorer makes them ripe for the picking.

I'm sure if Memphis didn't have Martin and Davenport and the Tigers lost to UALR, you darn sure would be like...but but..yeah we didn't have our leading scorer and prized 6'8 player.

Consistency.

Huntsville is a solid D-2 program (they were 26-8 last year), but Bama should have crushed them. The Tide is clearly more vulnerable now than expected.

EDIT: Huntsville replaces 4 starters from last year and played the second half without their starting point guard.

According to Matt Zentz, Alabama actually will have three of their top players out: Colin Sexton, Braxton Key, and Riley Norris.

Yes, you are consistent.
I'm sure if Memphis wins some will put a little asterisk by the win, diminishing it some. If they lose, the loss will be made that much worse since Alabama wasn't at full strength. and that's ok.
Regardless, it'd be nice to get a win. Especially as an underdog.
