Position Grades Toledo
QB-C-

I thought Childers actually played pretty well in the first half. Made some good throws. I thought the play calling really exposed him.

If he’s not going to be a + runner, which doesn’t seem to be the case, I’m not so sure he’s going to be our guy long term. I don’t see a ton of development from week to week which may be him, may be the staff. I can see him and Santa making big strides in the offseason if the competition is open, but I only sense good not great.

We have seen the movie over the last 15 years. Good QB’s in our system can win 6-9 games. You need the great QB like Harnish or Lynch to go next level. Right now we just don’t have that guy on the roster....praying maybe the exception is Hall.

OL-B

Nice bounce back game after getting handled by EMU. If we would have run the ball like we should have this group may have gotten us a W. Some bad penalties and some pressure was the downside.

RB-A

I thought Jones and Harbison played their asses off. Really like Harbison.

WR-B-

Beebe with a few drops. Could have used them coming up with a big 50/50 ball like Kenny did in the glass bowl in ‘15. Didn’t get that put them tonight.

DL-C

They finally got outplayed. Hopefully a team didn’t figure out a game plan to neutralize Smith. Thought Corcoran played well.

LB-B

They are starting to get into the 2 and 3 deeps and I thought the unit performed well. Jones is a special player. Really glad he chose to be a Huskie.

DB-D+

If you think about it, it took 9 weeks to find a bonafide passing attack on our schedule and you saw some major cracks. Smalls has one to forget. Lurry’s Game is built on his incredible instinct. He’s never been a guy that’s a “lockdown” corner, always been susceptible in 1-on-1 situations. Safeties seemed to be out of position a little too much.

ST-C

Only for Abresch’s block. Hagan was meh. Ference had his worst game. The one good punt was a complete mishit.

Staff-D-

I though they were awful tonight. The playcalling was extremely mind boggling...run...the...damn...ball. Also think they got beat pretty bad in the film room. Toledo had a clear plan to expose a few things and executed it. #Rodstuff. He just is clueless on game management. It’s a joke, really. He’s gonna get a pass for the bounce back and the fact that we have a roster of solid players arhat seem to be playing hard for him, but man he’s the definition of Peter Principle. An online coach promoted to his level of incompetence. He’s been able to just ride the culture and stability of the program and not screw it up. It’s going to be interesting. He’s gonna make it to the end of his contract, but will we renew?

An 7 to 9 win season is nothing to be mad about, but it just sucks that we’be backed up to the point where you don’t “expect” to be at Toledo, you now just h”hope”.

I don't think Ference's punt was a mishit, if you're talking about the one that went down to the 1-yard line.

Although when Toledo was on the 1-yard line, I just KNEW they were going to try for a big play. And of course they did.

Agree 100%.
I felt the same way.
Ference rugby kicked that one on purpose.

Good news is, they won't have Woodside next year. Bad news is, they seem to find QBs that can throw the ball.

I know it was Rugby style, ya know, him running for 10 seconds before he kicked that was a dead giveaway lol. Went back and watched and he completely mishit it...got fortunate. Looked like me blading a wedge and having it roll up onto the green...”meant to do that!”

Big ones. One for sure. He has always had the dropseys and now then seem to come more often.

DB - F
Smalls torched all game and drops a pick resulting in a field goal which was huge.

Kane - F for no adjustments on slants and passes over the middle, passes to the tight end.

For as long as I can remember, Toledo always threw slants and passes over the middle. After many years, you'd think we'd be prepared for this.

I hate losing to Toledo. I'm invoking the 24 hour "losing-the-game-PO'd" rule, so I'll be over it tomorrow night and salvage th weekend. Thankfully there are no Toledo fans at the office to crank me up.

This was the year I thought we'd be able to stop it, at least somewhat. Apparently not. How do they get open in less than a second?

Dog Fan will be running the concession stand. We're not sure what will be for sale. And, because of complaints, the popcorn will be salt-free.

The advanced forecast says 30 degrees, 30 mph wind, and sleet, the kind that hurts. Bring your own salt.

I will be selling my patented rocket shaped wieners. And, as a marketing special to draw fans to the game, you get a free Toledo Rockets dill-dough with every purchase of 4 or more rocket wieners. Hey, I know how to draw fans!
