Preseason ratings are great for this team. Saw an article from SI online earlier that ranks defenses and has the 'Cats #3 nationally. I just hope our guys are ready from day one to be the hunted and not the hunters. History is littered with preseason ranked teams that spend too much time reading their own press clippings and fall by the wayside. I think this team is too good for that but we'll know just a little more in nine days.

Certainly agree on both counts. Let's enjoy the ride from the pre-season to March but having high expectations for the post-season should become the new normal here.

Anyone who states on November 2nd that it's Elite 8 or bust is probably setting themselves up to be Mr. Bitterman in March.

Crimmany, we have not seen a minute of live action yet. Let's see what things look like in mid to late January.

The real expectation for this team is to win a conference championship, earn a 4 seed or better, and make the Sweet 16. Essentially live up to the pre-season ranking. All those things make UC one of the teams on the short list for an Elite Eight or Final Four but setting that up as the benchmark at this point is getting ahead of ourselves.

What's the reason that the expectations are so high? Any credit to Cronin for building a preseason top 15 team in middling conference without 5* recruits all while staying clear of a massive cheating scandal engulfing college basketball? Guess not . . .

I continue to laugh the conference championship stat that you guys trot out. A Big East title was really achievable for UC in the late 2000s, huh?

Don't get your hair all curled up and frizzy. Yes, Mick gets credit for building up the program. It's now year 12. What's wrong with having high expectations for arguably his deepest team and not playing in the old Big East? Seems to me we had high expectations when Huggs was here.

Well, damn. Put me in the "certain folks" category then. Have at it for the perpetual solid season and just making the tournament because we lack 5 star recruits and are in a middlin' conference. What's the point of being highly ranked anyway?
