True.

I guess the longer answer is SMU wins out, they win the West.

SMU loses any one game not to Memphis and wins the rest--they win the West.

Yada yada, winning the SMU game is the most important game in terms of winning the west.

I don't think that's true.

If SMU beats us, but loses another game, there are a lot of 3-way tie scenarios involving Houston and/or Navy.

I was trying to be simplistic in the idea that SMU is the most important game in terms of winning the west.

If SMU beats Memphis, they would be the only team that would have the tiebreaker on us.

I get simplistic. Also inaccurate. If SMU beats us and loses another, chances are greater for a 3-way tie than for just a 2-way between us and them.

Yeah, and Memphis owns the tiebreak on all other schools. But wouldn't if they lost to SMU.

Like I noted above, if Memphis were to just beat SMU and lose to Tulsa and ECU, the only team Memphis would have to worry about would be the winner of the Navy-UH game. Every other team would have at least three conference losses and Memphis would own the tiebreak.

The same couldn't be said if SMU wasn't the one win. A lot more variables in play.

In any event, just win them all and it isn't an issue.

As for getting to the champ game, teams in control of their own destinies are UCF, USF, SMU, and us. So, yeah - all else remains the same - UCF/USF and SMU/Memphis are two huge games.

I'm betting one of us blinks before then though. Of the 4 teams, we have the easiest road. SMU has the toughest.
