MAC schools of players starting in Lions-Steelers game
did you note how many of the players including stars like Big Ben and Antonio in last nites NFL game were from MAC schools ?

Vast majority were from Power conferences yet no other mid major had more yet some continue to diss the MAC here.

how it annoys me players from OSU most always include "the" Ohio State University when introducing themselves...when you are real good, you can be arrogant. Urban Meyer struck me that way when coaching BG at NIU Huskie Stadium more than a decade ago. He fits right in at the OSU.

Always referring to Ohio State as "THE Ohio State University" and pronouncing it as THEE is not limited to their athletes. The whole damn school does it including their hospital system, academic programs etc.

Every time I hear it I feel like I need to vomit. It is so arrogant and their students, athletic programs and the community don't get it because they are arrogant.

While I am sure it won't change how people perceive it, the legal name of OSU is, in fact, The Ohio State University. Using the "The" is the proper name of the school.

Yep. My understanding is that the name is used to distinguish the school as 'The' state university of Ohio, since OSU was the school with the highest level of support from the state/government and wanted to identify itself accordingly. If you put a long pause in the middle, it kind of makes more sense: The Ohio ........................ State University.

Pronouncing The as THEE is what I am referring to. Perhaps you would need to live in Columbus as I do to fully understand the arrogance which goes beyond their athletics.

Part of the The OSU is a little defensive behavior by the Buckeye fans. There are a lot of them down here and they get prickly when I refer to the MAC school as Ohio. They try to correct me and say the school is OU. I say Ohio University a lot.

Saw a shirt once that read - “ We are Ohio and you are State ”. A great dig at to$u fans...

I think it's great. I like arrogance when it can be backed up by performance. OSU has built a storied athletic program, they have an enormous university with numerous alumni, and their ties and fan base run nationwide.

I disagree when you say their community "doesn't get it". I think they know they are arrogant and they just don't give a damn.
