Per Brett McMurphy. Hope this happens but this might mean just the top eight rated teams -- which isn't good news for even undefeated G5 teams like UCF who still are forced to play weak in-conference teams. Just have to wonder if the G5s have enough collective pull to make any difference in the outcome here? Let's hope.

This is the beginning of the end for the aac.

If this gets shot down by the SEC, B1G, and ACC; I think it will lead to the Texahoma 4 going to the new Pac-16. That would have massive ramifications for the American of course.

Either this is the separation of the G5 and P5 or this is the start of a massive re-alignment. Either way this will more than likely be the end of the aac being referred to as being P6.

I don't understand. Sorry, not as well versed with the NCAA politics. I would think an expanded playoff would increase the odds of us being able to get in? Why would this be a separation of the P5 and G5?

I'm for an 8 team playoff. Best 8 regardless of conference

Because its their way of ensuring they can get more P5 teams in and thus trying to further make the G5 irrelevant.

This would be the end of p6 for sure, however a great thing for all of FBS. Houston made it to rank 6 and I could definitely see other American teams getting close and winning their way to top 8.

Its not ideal, the best would to have 16 all conference champions and at larges but this is a step. I think we get to 16 eventually

Will never happen unless you shorten the season way too many games for one. Plus the P5 will never allow a G5 school to have easy access to the playoff.

This would be good however they are going for auto bids they don't want the SEC getting 3 teams in while they fight for 1

Tell Captain Turd Nugget to go look at Wisconsin's "murderers row" of a conference schedule and get back to me. While he's at it, have him check out their badass OOC schedule.

Go talk to division 2, any major high school football playing state, the njcaa, or the nfl about this and ask em if there's way too many games.

Mike leach has all of this figured out already.

I think his tweet was a joke, as it is possible both the Pac and B1G get shut out this year.

They should go to 8 spots, with the conference champion from the P6 getting a reserved spot. That leaves 2 open spots for anyone. If a G4 team plays a schedule with a pulse and stays undefeated, they can get a spot. It would also allow the SEC to possibly field 3 teams in the playoffs, which is something they ultimately want.

the AAC can get to 8 with no ties.

and aresco is the one who negotiated the ny6 spot...if its by conference champion i feel confident in him getting the aac or g5 a slot

Or...the AAC becomes P6, each conference champion has an auto bid to the tourney. The big 12 (-2) knows it's best chance for survival may be for the AAC to gain power status. The more power leagues the better for them at this moment. Even with top 8, no guarantee either of those conferences would be included. Or this could be mcmurphy messing around because both of them will be excluded again.
