RE: Opens as a 9 point dog
As long as we don't give up the big play as a result of a breakdown I don't see our D giving up more than 14 points.
The problem is we are prone to doing that once a game.
Come on Huskies, play your best game of the year and bring down the rockets.

Cody Thompson was in line to be an all American and he got hurt in the 1st quarter... Toledo abandoned the game plan and played soft. Luckily our D kept us in the game. We also played without Swanson.... who is going to be a 1st teamer. That EMU game is as much of an outlier in the past 7 years I can think of.

I will be watching and cheering the team on.

At least with Childers as QB, QB play has been improving each week instead of going the opposite direction. I at least take my hat off to Carey for realizing he made a mistake at the beginning of the year.

Not sure if I should believe you or my lying eyes. I have not yet seen the improvement you speak of.

I really think that ball state score is contributing. People like me didn't fully understand the turmoil that program is going through with injuries. I think it could get out of hand if NIU is conservative on offense, but 10 for a betting line seems steep

I'm of little faith in this matchup this season...not so confident the NIU O can keep possessions often enough and long enuff to keep rockets O off the field and provide NIU D some rests..

Even without our MLB Kyle Pugh, I like our defense's chances of keeping Toledo under 20. If we have Huff, I think we should win because we should be able to score more than 20 against Toledo's defense. We'll find out on Thursday!

High ankle sprains can be tough to come back from so even if Huff plays he might not be 100%. Hopefully they have been holding him out to give him an extra week to heal for this game as I like our chances much more with a healthy Huff than without.

RE: Opens as a 9 point dog
I haven't seen much of Toledo yet, so I can't make much of a prediction. But based on watching NIU against some good opponents, I don't think NIU loses by more than 1 possession unless they turn the ball over 2 or more times...which they've designed the whole dang offense around not doing that.

Looking at EMU is a bit silly, there is a punt block TD and a trick play TD in there.

Not having Pugh has weakened the defense against the run, no doubt, but this is still a pretty darn good D. Any word on Huff? That would be a big plus.

Win the turnover battle, win the game.

Tuck Foledo.

We will need to create a couple turnovers to win IMO. Our secondary is due after not having one last week against EMU and at-least one every game except SDSU. Will be a deciding factor.

I am not a football coach, I didn't play football, and I don't really know the Xs and Os of football. But what I do know is that EMU is good, but not that good. And Toledo is good, probably really good.

I don't think this game goes too well for our beloved Huskies.

RE: Opens as a 9 point dog
Despite our defense being very good, our offense and special teams is prone to turning over the ball too much and our kicker is far from being reliable. We will need to actually put points up to win this game.

Both teams have records based on beating bad teams. Neither of us have beaten a good team. So whoever wins this game will finally have a feather in their cap for beating a team with a winning record.

RE: Opens as a 9 point dog
Our secondary will probably have a completely blown coverage at least once and possibly two or three times. They've been doing it for years. We've had some luck with bad throws or dropped passes on those plays...but I don't really like our chances if they give up any 50+ yard plays. If we fall behind it's going to be very bad. Seems like a game that will either be a one score game or we'll lose by 20+

After some early Rocket money, line seems to be coming back down to original 9 again, one location you can get 8.5

Ugh, I hadn't heard that is what he's dealing with. That's tough.

I think 2 weeks is the lower end recovery time, so maybe if it wasn't severe we could see him back.

I agree. It will be key to not give up long pass plays, make the Toledo O earn every yard and point, get a couple of turnovers and be around +2 in turnover margin.
