The only viewing option for No. 1 JMU at Rhode Island Saturday (Nov. 4) at noon is College Sports Live, which requires a subscription fee ---> $9.95.

Ugh, not even CAA.tv? Gee thanks, Joey D.

It’s not so much the $10 as the “subscription” part of this that is annoying, those can sometimes be a pain to cancel.

I bought the subscription a couple of years ago for a game at Villanova. It was not hard to cancel....still sucks to have to do it.

The good news is that you can view it the same ways you've viewed the other CAA CollegeSportsLive streams, such as via the roku app.

Dukes D will extend their streak of scoring a TD to 5 games and will outscore URI. The Good Guys' offense will break out with at least 2 long runs for TD.

I have a hard time believing that this Rhode Island team breaks our defense's streak of domination...they would need some defensive/special teams scores on our miscues to break 10 IMO. Dukes Dominate. 52-0.

RE: JMU at Rhode Island Thread
The close loss to Elon should be enough to get the players attention. If not, how bout this: They took FBS Central Michigan to OT before losing by a FG. Central Michigan is rated higher than every team in the CAA except us. This Rhode Island team has potential. It's a long road trip, to play before a small crowd in a crappy stadium. It'll be hard to get super pumped in that environment ( like going to Northeastern back in the day ). I'll take a "W" any way we can get it and hoping for no injuries. Anything more will be gravy.

RE: JMU at Rhode Island Thread
Their new starting QB has run the ball 33 times over the past 2 games and it has helped their offense tremendously. They were averaging 21 points per game with the old QB and are averaging 32 points per game with the new QB. Stop the QB run and win big.

JMU 44
Rhode Island 14

In today's weekly presser Coach Houston described his defense as... "driven to be the best".

These guys are locked in and hunger for shutouts.

I just signed up for the CBS College Sports Live subscription. They have just about every CAA games that has a video avaialble on-demand. Not a bad little perk for a $10 one time purchase.

Here's the chicken and the egg of the situation...JMU has faced CAA Ds that are ranking in the top 25 in one or more categories (W&M is the CAA D we've played with only 1 top 25 ranking).

NDSU has played two MVFC Ds that have two categories that have ranked in the top 25...Missouri State, Indiana State, and Western Illinois have terrible Ds (think URI or worse). The one defense that gave them fits was YSU.

Now...the CAA doesn't have highly ranked Os, but the MVFC does. So are the CAA's defensive rankings high because the offenses are terrible? Or are the MVFC's defensive rankings low because the offenses are great?

Here's the thing though:

CAA Offensive YPG - 355.34
MVGC Offensive YPG - 411.7

I guess we'll find out just like we did last year in the playoffs. I have not seen many, if any, balanced offenses - even at the high level of D1AA. Last year the Softies came rolling in throwing all over the place and we shut that down. They had nothing to turn to. NDSU and YSU's rushing offenses were stymied by our defense and they had no threatening passing game to turn to. Trott and crew will take away your strong hand. They've proven it time and time again...and, he's the scary part...we now have our full deck of players adding to an already talented 2-deep and our D is getting better and better every week. I don't see any great offenses that are balanced (in all of D1AA), but I do see 1 great defense that can and probably will stop anything thrown at them.
