They didnt lose it. They told the NAIA to f*ck off, because they werent going to host it if the NAIA didnt grow a spine.

Only problem I have here is how does one determine if a school "allows" a player to kneel. What exactly is the qualification for that?
I mean, Arkansas State made it very clear the minute these issues came out that our players were allowed to kneel if they so desired without fear of reprisal, but they were also strongly encouraged to come to the school before they made the decision to kneel to see if a better alternative could be found. To date, no player has knelt.
Its one thing if you've got entire teams kneeling, but its another issue entirely if one player randomly kneels. Is it really worth stopping an entire game because one player made a random decision and the school chose to counsel rather than punish for it?

N.J. High School Football Refs Walk Off Field In Protest After Players Take Knee During Anthem
This father raised his son well. Kudos to them both.
Quote:A father and son who were part of an officiating crew assigned to work a New Jersey high school football game walked off the field in protest after members from one of the teams took a knee during the national anthem Friday night.
Ernie Lunardelli, the head linesman, said he and his son, Anthony, a line judge, stood on the field with their hands on their hearts while the anthem was played prior to Monroe’s home game against Colts Neck and that both left the field immediately after the anthem because they saw four Monroe players take a knee.
“Anybody that disrespects the flag, in my eyes, it’s not right,” said Ernie Lunardelli, a veteran scholastic football official in his 18th season. “What they are doing with this kneeling and everything, they have the right do to that, but the national anthem has nothing to do with them kneeling. The flag has got nothing to do with why they are protesting. If they want to protest, let them protest, but don’t disrespect our country, the flag and the armed forces.”
Anthony Lunardelli, who graduated from Monroe in 2008 and played football at the high school, said he perceived kneeling during the anthem as a sign of disrespect.
“They’ve got a right to protest and so do we,” Anthony Lunardelli said. “That (taking a knee during the anthem) is not how I was brought up, and that’s not how I was raised. I’m not criticizing their right. That’s just my viewpoint.”[…]
Ernie Lunardelli said two cadets (officials in training) who were assigned to work the chains replaced him and his son as part of a five-man crew, and that Beyer recruited two parents to work the chains. The game, which Colts Neck won 18-13, was completed without incident.
Ernie Lunardelli said that about 75 minutes before kickoff he and his son notified parties from both schools of their intention to walk off the field if any player took a knee during the anthem

100 people is being generous...
But hey, Ozarks wants attention, and the best way to get attention is to open your mouth about the anthem controversy. Maybe 5 more people will show up to watch their games now in support, giving them an average crowd of 25

Good for them. For anyone interested Budweiser is taking a survey as to whether or not to pull ads from NFL games. Their number is. 800 342 5283. They will ask you if they should pull ads or not. I did this, it is legit.

You know because you've been there?
It's certainly not the "big dance" but it draws about 25,000 fans each year.

RE: College of The Ozarks Loses The Basketball Tournament Site
My own personal feeling on this is that everyone should stand for the pledge. And I think that protesters have seriously misjudged the depth of feeling many people have for the flag and the pledge. Their protests are counter productive. Just to get that out of the way.
But the NAIA is a mix of private and public institutions, and while Ozarks has the right to set speech code at their private college, at public colleges students have full constitutional rights to protest in whatever way they want. Many aren't on scholarship, so there isn't even that kind of leverage available. And many NAIA schools are HBCUs, who's students may have additional motivation to protest.
So Ozarks has seriously overplayed their hand. They can regulate the behavior of their own players, and their game contracts can stipulate opponents behavior for whoever agrees to play them. But the tournament isn't Ozarks to regulate, and teams are there because they've earned the right to play, not because they've signed a contract with Ozarks. The NAIA had to move the tournament.

Arkansas St. players should kneel. Make this happen. Should work out well. Ask Mizzou.

Agree with decision. Don’t see why schools just not create a problem by having teams in locker room during anthem.
