LaTech Football Game TV/ Streaming Coverage.
Looking at the Rice Owls site, the game will be streamed on FloSport. As near as I can tell this is the first football game that this streaming platform has been used this season in football, though I think some of this season's WBB and maybe MBB (?) games will also use it.

Anybody have any experience with Flosport? It looks like you have to register to use it and the yearly subscription cost is $149.95. I think you can pay monthly, but I don't know that amount.

Any other streaming alternatives for the game?

The FloSports football signup website says its month-to-month subscription charge is $19.99/month.

Note that this is only for FloSports' football broadcasts/features. On its homepage, there are links to 25 different activity channels ... including "cheer"(leading), "grappling" and "marching"(band). Each of these may be a separate subscription.

FloTrack, for example, also costs $150/year ... but its month-to-month tariff is $29.99, 50% higher than football's.

I've enjoyed some of FloTrack's free track coverage in the past. WRC may have more details on that ... and the evolution of FloTrack into the larger FloSports' hpyter-targeted ensemble of online sports broadcasting channels.

Tom Franklin and Butch Alsondor will be doing the broadcast duties. The press release has some interesting information on Franklin which I wasn't aware of. He was the color analyst for Rice football in 1983 and 1984, with Dave South doing the play-by-play? That is the first I've heard of that - I didn't get to Houston until the summer of 1986 but I've always assumed South was a lifetime Aggie (and I know he's retiring from Aggies broadcasting duties after this year I believe - he was at Tudor earlier in the week for their basketball exhibition by the way).

Tom's Rice gig is mentioned in passing on his LinkedIn profile as being among his activities when working at KTRH (1981-2001).

He's totally freelance now. Here's a link to his demo reel: https://www.linkedin.com/in/tom-franklin...598598245/

I'm aware of Tom's Rice history from 1986 on (and am friends with him on Facebook so I know about his current freelance work). The Dave South part at Rice is the part I was unaware of - although his Aggie bio mentions he has been there since 1985 so I'm sure it's right. I'm just surprised Bill Cousins or someone else never mentioned that fact to me (or maybe they did and I just forget about it).

I don't remember Dave at Rice either. Got to know Dave and Leanne pretty well at a couple of SWC basketball tournaments after he was at A&M. I do remember when Dave was ejected from an SWC basketball tournament game. That day was not great for Rice basketball, either.

Here's a link to an Associated Press article on that ejection, which occurred midway through the second half of Houston's 84-68 victory over the Aggies in the opening round of the 1993 SWC basketball tournament.

Quote:South made eye contact with referee Brian Stout and gave him the "choke" sign by jerking his right hand to his throat. ...

Reporters monitoring the radio broadcast said South had told his listeners that "the Aggies are playing two teams today--the Cougars and the Southwest Conference officials."

A retired pastor from Georgia has included a story about it in the Texas A&M-oriented book in his series of "Daily Devotions for Die-Hard Kids."

Quote:One of the stories in the book for Texas A&M kids concerns a basketball game when the Aggie radio announcer Dave South was thrown out of a game for making comments about the officiating. South became famous across the country because of the incident. McMinn's message to kids is that you are already famous where it really counts — because God knows who you are.
